Chris Rock's joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's bald head at the 2022 Oscars didn't go well with her husband Will Smith. Jada has spoken out about her alopecia hair loss on several occasions. On Sunday, March 27, the 94th Academy Awards were apparently disrupted when Rock allegedly made a comparison between Jada and GI Jane.

After the joke didn't go down well with Will, he stepped onstage and whacked the comedian. As he walked off stage, Will exclaimed, "Keep my wife's name out of your f**king mouth!"

"Wow, dude," Rock replied to the remark. "Yeah it was a GI Jane joke," to which Will responded in rage, yelling, "Keep my wife's name out of your f**king mouth." Rock made the joke about Jada despite the Red Table Talk presenter attributing a disorder as reason behind her baldness.

Attendees at the event, as well as Twitter users, expressed a wide range of emotions in response to Will's reaction to Rock's joke. One Twitter user's tweet read, "So Jada Smith has alopecia & has been very open about the difficulties and pain of dealing with hair loss. I imagine that’s why Will was so pissed about Chris Rock’s joke about her hair but wow. That was unexpected." Piers Morgan also jumped into the Twitter chatter on the incident: It was real. <br>Just seen the uncensored footage. Will Smith hit Chris Rock for cracking a GI Jane joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith (who suffers from alopecia) - then twice screamed & keep my wife's name out of your fucking mouth at him Ugliest moment in Oscars history. " A viewer wrote: " Jada has alopecia and Will Smith said not today."

Jada spoke about her experience with the disorder in an Instagram video in December, pointing out a line that had developed around her scalp as a result of the disorder.

"Now at this point, I can only laugh," the actor admitted. "Y'all know I’ve been struggling with alopecia and just all of a sudden one day, look at this line right here. Look at that. So it just showed up like that and this is going to be a little bit more difficult for me to hide." Jada remarked at the time that she had opted to speak about the issue "so y'all are not ask any questions" and so that no one would think she had undergone "brain surgery."

Jada originally admitted to having alopecia in 2018 during an episode of Red Table Talk, where she mentioned losing "handfuls of hair." The actor admitted at the time that the hair loss was "terrifying" when it initially began. "And I'll tell you it was terrifying when it first started. I was in the shower one day and then just handfuls of hair, just in my hands, and I was like: 'Oh my God am I going bald?'"  she explained. "It was one of those times in my life when I was literally shaking with fear."

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, alopecia is a disorder that occurs when the body destroys its own hair follicles, resulting in hair loss anywhere on the body.
