Ja Rule hits back at Fyre Festival with a new diss track called 'FYRE': 'Show of hands if you got your money back?'

Rapper Ja Rule is back with a brand-new track, and this time, he's taking aim at the organizers of the ill-fated Fyre Festival with his cleverly titled song 'FYRE', which stands for "For Your Real Entertainment."

As anyone familiar with that concert debacle knows, it was anything but real entertainment - more like really bad, shoddily planned entertainment!

The infamous 2017 Fyre Festival in the Bahamas became one of the most hyped-up failures of the decade - it spawned two documentaries, drew huge amounts of flak and even went viral on social media for being one of the worst flops in music festival history.

And artists like Ja Rule were unwittingly targeted as pawns in a scam that used famous celebrities, artists and social media influencers to drum up publicity for what was originally billed as a glamorous party on a deserted island - but then eventually left them (and their fans) feeling cheated and shortchanged. Thousands of excited people turned up to experience the hottest musical acts, luxury accommodation, and gourmet catering, but were instead greeted by artist walkouts, cheap mattresses, and cheese-slice sandwiches.

Ja Rule was even dragged into a 100 million dollar lawsuit over claims that he was promoting the exclusive party on social media (he was originally described as a co-organizer) despite knowing that it was doomed to fail. He was later exonerated from the case and all charges were dropped, but he's still clearly got some strong feelings about being tricked by the festival organizers.

In the new track which was released last week on Instagram, Ja Rule addressed his involvement with the Fyre fiasco in hilarious, scathing fashion. Biting lyrics delivered over the Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick "The Show" sample include:

"The festival is on fire

We don't need no water, make that motherf***er hotter

Hotter than the sun, but it wasn’t that

Show of hands if you got your money back?

Just playing, I got sued for that

100 mil to be exact"

The 'Always On Time' rapper goes on to claim that he was "hoodwinked, bamboozled, and led astray" and that "false advertising ain't fraud." Ja Rule even has plans to organize a festival of his own and give the whole dismal chapter a happy ending - he guarantees that when it does eventually happen, it will be "iconic."

Let's hope it turns out that way for his sake, we wouldn't want Ja Rule playing with fire again! Ja Rule's upcoming album will be out in Feb 2020, but for now, you can check out his new diss track here.
