WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN: George Clooney and Julia Roberts reveal the REAL reason they never dated
George Clooney and Julia Roberts have always been close friends but they have never developed a romantic relationship. Their on-screen chemistry has been stoking the box office for more than 20 years. The two are known to be one of the biggest heavyweights in Hollywood. In a recent interview, they disclosed the reason for not dating each other over the years.
The Academy Award winners finally explained why they've never actually dated in a new interview to promote their most recent movie, 'Ticket to Paradise'. Despite the fact that Clooney, 61, and Roberts, 54, are each happily married to Amal Clooney and Danny Moder, respectively, they have known one another since they were both single. Asking the Hollywood veterans if they had ever implemented a "no-dating policy" during a rapid-fire question and answer session on Access Hollywood, host Kit Hoover unveiled their relationship during the early days of their career. “To not date each other? I don't think we needed to state it!” the ‘Pretty Woman’ star said. “It just seemed like the right thing to do.” Clooney continued by describing their respective busy love lives at the time. “Julia was always in a relationship, or I was in a relationship,” the ‘Gravity’ actor added. “We were fast friends right away. It's been nothing but fun for us, so I don't think that was ever really a thing.”

He and Amal share five-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella.
In movies like ‘Ocean's Eleven’ (2001), ‘Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind’ (2002, 2003), ‘Ocean's Twelve’ (2004, 2003) and ‘Money Monster’ (2016, 2016), Roberts and Clooney have acted alongside one another. In their most recent romantic comedy, ‘Ticket To Paradise,’ the actors play divorced ex-spouses who reconnect to attempt and prevent their daughter from getting married to a man she just met. The platonic friends had to kiss in order for the plot to progress which Roberts thought was a little odd. “It's kinda ridiculous,” the ‘Notting Hill’ actress admitted on the Today show. “It is like kissing your best friend.” Without missing a beat, Clooney sought to salvage the situation by saying, “Well, thanks for that.
