LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: As you gear up for the release of 'Alien: Romulus', here's another exciting piece of news for you! The beloved franchise, that has been entertaining us since 1979, is getting its first TV show soon.

The franchise is ready to expand its universe, adding more thrilling stories about the terrifying Xenomorph. A joint-venture production between 20th Television and Scott Free Productions, the series, titled 'Alien: Earth', was officially announced by Disney in December 2020.

'Alien: Earth' will be a recurring TV show

The timeline of 'Alien: Earth' will be set three decades before the events of 'Alien' (1979). The futuristic Earth will have big changes to the civilization, making it further interesting to watch how Xenomorph reacts in that kind of environment.

For those looking forward to the show can rejoice as it won't be a standalone series. John Langraf, Chairman of FX Networks, is already planning the show's future.

“We’re pretty bullish on ‘Alien: Earth’ and we’ve told him that assuming, as we hope, ‘Alien: Earth’ is a returning television series, we want him to focus on at least writing two seasons of it before returning to a possible sixth season of ‘Fargo,'" he said in an interview with Variety.

On July 17, 2024, the 'Alien' series wrapped filming, as per a tweet by Discussing Film. The series helmed by Noah Hawley, features Sydney Chandler in the lead role. She plays Wendy, a hybrid meta-woman who has the body of an adult and the consciousness of a child.

Other cast members include Samuel Blenkin as Boy Kavalier (a CEO), Timothy Olyphant as Kirsh (Wendy's synth mentor and trainer), Sandra Yi Sencindiver as Yatani (a senior member of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation), and Alex Lawther as CJ (a soldier).

When will 'Alien: Earth' release?

Neither creator Noah Hawley nor Disney has yet announced a release date for 'Alien: Earth'. However, if everything goes smoothly in the post-production stage, we can expect the series to arrive by the end of 2025.

Currently, there are no details of how many episodes we can expect from the series. Rest assured, we'll keep you updated as soon as we have new information.

'Alien: Earth' will be released on Hulu for US audience. Meanwhile, shift your attention to 'Alien: Romulus', the upcoming film of the franchise.

The film stars Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, and Spike Fearn. It was earlier scheduled to be released on Hulu. However, the producers finally opted for theatrical release.
