Is Taylor Lorenz disabled? Controversial WaPo journo slammed by Twitter trolls after SHOCKING claim
WASHINGTON DC: Trolls slammed the Washington Post journalist Taylor Lorenz for reportedly claiming she is “disabled.” The controversial reporter wrote on her Twitter, “Disabled people are fighting *to participate in society*. That’s all we want. We want robust layered covid protections that keep everyone safe and allow us to go to work, school, etc safely. No judgment here, but u should consider why that is so offensive to you.”
“The point is we don’t want to stay locked away inside all day, that’s the ENTIRE POINT. The exact ppl who accuse us of trying to ‘lock everyone inside’ are the ones advocating for policies that would keep disabled ppl locked out of safely participating in society indefinitely. If speaking publicly to my audience abt how covid can cause permanent health probs & calling out covid denialist rhetoric makes me an “a**hole” and “b*tch”, then it is what it is. I’d argue there’s nothing crueler than contributing to vulnerable ppl’s deaths & societal exclusion,” she added.

Is Taylor Lorenz disabled?
Taylor Lorenz is known for pointing out various issues related to people with disabilities. However, there’s no information available if Taylor is actually disabled herself. Taylor also wrote in another tweet, “Fun when people are like “I don’t have a problem w/ vulnerable ppl with no followers posting about COVID’s long-term harms and calling out denialism, I just have a problem when Taylor Lorenz, a very high profile medically vulnerable person does it, that’s fear-mongering!”

“Saying things like “the real bullies are the immunocompromised people who ‘fear monger’ by posting about how they’ve been shut out of society,” or accusing medically vulnerable ppl of wanting to lock everyone down forever (totally false) is covid denialism. Straight up,” she added.

Who is Taylor Lorenz?
Lorenz works as a culture and technology reporter for NYT. Her work has gained prominence for predominantly focusing on the internet culture. Born in New York City, she grew up in Connecticut. She joined NYT in September 2019 and previously worked for Daily Mail as the Global Head of Social Media. She has even written for Business Insider, The Atlantic, and The Daily Beast as a technology and culture writer.
Internet reactions
As expected, people started to troll the Washington Post journalist for claiming she was disabled. One person wrote, “As a society, we've always sought to be compassions and caring toward people who struggle, but it's not pragmatic to make that unbounded. Taylor, and whatever group she's claiming to be a part of now, can't be the final arbiter of those requirements for all 330 million people.” “Since when is being a senior citizen a disability,” another user hilariously wrote.

Another wondered, “What is the term for self-disabled?” “I mean, you’ve seen the way she speaks and writes, she’s clearly telling the truth,” another added. “I don't disbelieve that, but I think her and I would disagree on what her disability is,” yet another user remarked.
