Who is Taylor Lorenz? NYT journo who called Tucker Carlson 'disgusting' was blasted for false 'r-slur' claim
The New York Times has called out Fox News’ Tucker Carlson for his “calculated and cruel” attack on their female journalist Taylor Lorenz. The host dragged her for the tweets she shared on the occasion of Women’s Day, in which she had spoken about supporting women enduring harassment. She posted, "For international women’s day please consider supporting women enduring online harassment. It’s not an exaggeration to say that the harassment and smear campaign I’ve had to endure over the past year has destroyed my life. No one should have to go through this." Taking a jab at statements, Carlson said, “The most powerful claiming to be powerless.” He further called Lorenz someone “at the very top of journalism’s repulsive little food chain” before dubbing her a “less talented” NYT journalist.
Defending Lorenz, NYT issued a statement as they called out Carlson for his criticism of their journalist. The publication wrote on Twitter, “In a now-familiar move, Tucker Carlson opened his show last night by attacking a journalist. It was a calculated and cruel tactic, which he regularly deploys to unleash a wave of harassment and vitriol at his intended target.” It further read, “Taylor Lorenz is a talented New York Times journalist doing timely and essential reporting. Journalists should be able to do their jobs without facing harassment.”

Who is Taylor Lorenz?
Lorenz works as a culture and technology reporter for NYT. Her work has gained prominence for predominantly focusing on the internet culture. Born in New York City, she grew up in Connecticut. She joined NYT in September 2019 and previously worked for Daily Mail as Global Head of Social Media. She has even written for Business Insider, The Atlantic and The Daily Beast as a technology and culture writer. Her reporting is believed to be consumed frequently by “Silicon Valley venture capitalists, marketers and... anyone curious about how the internet is shaping the ways in which humans express themselves and communicate,” according to The Caret.
In 2020, she reportedly signed a deal with Simon & Schuster for a book titled ‘Extremely Online: Gen Z, the Rise of Influencers, and the Creation of a New American Dream’. On March 10, she shared a series of Tweets calling out Carlson for using her picture on national television, followed by public humiliation. Posting a screenshot from his segment she wrote, "This is disgusting".
I hope people see this and recognize it for what it is, an attempt to mobilize an army of followers to memorize my name and instigate harassment https://t.co/Zcw5mpaSRa

Lorenz blasted for false ‘r-slur’ against tech entrepreneur
In February, Lorenz was subjected to severe criticism on social media after she falsely accused tech entrepreneur Marc Andreessen of using an “r-slur” during a conversation on the app Clubhouse about the surge in GameStop’s stock price.
She had tweeted, “@pmarca just used openly using the r-slur on Clubhouse tonight and not one other person in the room called him on it or saying anything." The tweet was later deleted when Andreessen's colleague Nathan Jones clarified another user who goes by the name Felicia Horowitz spoke about Redditors referring to themselves as "R-word revolution" but that Andressen himself "never used that word, ever."
Lorenz then replied to Jones’ tweet saying, “Thanks for clarifying that it was Felicia saying that word, rather than Marc as many in the room heard it. I hope you can understand how some people in the room felt hearing it." Many slammed Lorenz for her false accusations against an innocent user on social media and called her out for her journalistic ethics.
Unsurprisingly, multiple ppl in the room insist this never occurred.

Taylor is another petty Professional Tattletale masquerading as a journalist. Her *reports* should be regarded w/ the highest degree of skepticism.

Sean Davis called her a 'creep'
Sean Davis joined Carlson during his segment as the duo took Lorenz's case. The host said, "Now that we know that Taylor Lorenz is not only having her life destroyed because people disagree with her, but is even more destroyed because we pointed out that it is destroyed because people are disagreeing with her." Davis responded, "She stalks teenagers on the internet. And this isn’t my opinion. She says as much and she even talks about how if she were a dude doing what she were doing, people would think it’s kind of creepy."
He further added that she "harasses kids and teenagers and gets them to say things so she can basically mine them in her clips. What happens is when these little Bolshevik totalitarians get mad at you and accuse you of harassing them or being violent, what they actually want is to avoid any accountability for their own actions. They use their identity as a sword and a shield. 'I can say things against you because of my identity, but you can’t come after me because of my identity.' It's disgusting."
