LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Washington Post’s controversial columnist Taylor Lorenz was slammed for supporting the strict Covid-19 lockdowns in China and tearing apart her own newspaper's reporting on the debatable matter.

The Post tweeted its article on Saturday, November 26, about China's record number of Covid cases. The tweet read, “A coronavirus outbreak on the verge of being China’s biggest of the pandemic has exposed a critical flaw in Beijing’s 'zero covid' strategy: a vast population without natural immunity.” The article stated how only a fraction of the country's population was vaccinated during the deadly pandemic, according to The Daily Mail.

Lorenz quoted the tweet with her own take. She tweeted, "There is no lasting 'natural immunity' to COVID. You can get covid over and over and over again bc there are so many endlessly evolving strains and antibodies wane. Also, choosing not to kill off millions of vulnerable people (as the US is doing) isn't a 'critical flaw.'"'

In a follow-up tweet, the columnist added how the article contained "a lot more nuance." “The original article linked is mostly about vaccines and gets into a lot more nuance btw, but I wanted to clear things up for people who may simply skim a tweet. Stay safe out there,” she wrote.

Within hours of the posting, Lorenz's original post drew criticism from others. “Sickening. Washington Post “journalist” and obsessive Covid maximalist Taylor Lorenz is now full-on defending the Chinese Communist Party’s massive human rights violations… just days after civilians burned to death in a locked-down apartment block in Urumqi,” a user wrote.

A second user said, “It is common knowledge at WaPo that Taylor Lorenz uses the paper to settle personal & political scores but they do nothing because the misinformation she spreads creates epic levels of controversy that deliver epic numbers of clicks. WaPo IS #fakenews.” “Taylor Lorenz is a useless and unserious person who should never be treated otherwise and I think the one non-useless thing she has done so far is rapidly putting in so much work to prove it,” a third user asserted while the fourth said, “Taylor Lorenz is to China as Walter Duranty was to Ukraine under Soviet occupation. The legacy media has been and remains complicit in the greatest evils known to humankind.”

Lorenz was in the news earlier for allegedly doxxing the person behind the conservative Twitter account 'Libs of TikTok'. Lorenz's intention to reveal the identity of the creator of the account surfaced after Florida's governor Ron DeSantis' press secretary Christina Pushaw shared a screenshot of an email sent by the journalist asking for a comment on a story exposing "the woman" behind the account.
