Spoilers for 'Invasion' Episode 10 'First Day'

Apple TV+'s 'Invasion' is finally here with its last episode and just like you, we're curious to see how this show that is centered more around people rather than aliens ends. So far the series has been consistently slow and confusing with its slightly exciting developments.

The ninth episode was hectic and the most fast-paced of the series with simultaneous action and threats by aliens who were cornering humans, so we hoped the show ends on a high note. So read on to know what we thought and what happened in the last episode of Apple TV's 'Invasion'.

The tenth and last episode of the season begins on a celebratory note with the world rejoicing the fall of the aliens and lauding Japan for leading the victory. Seem like Mitsuki's (Shioli Kutsuna) worst nightmare came true with Hinata (Rinko Kikuchi) and her shuttle being nuked after she pinpointed its location. We see her and Hinata's father driving where he tells her of the compass she was gifted as a child and its significance. The sad start is made worse by the fact that Casper (Billy Barratt) who's possibly the one who actually saved mankind is pronounced dead. This revelation is met with some really good acting by India Brown who plays Jamila. And we can confidently say the child actors in the show really did a great job throughout.

Ahmed (Firas Nassar) who was implied to be shot in the previous episode sees Aneesha (Golshifteh Farahani) alone with her kids who question why they still need to hide. The mother says that even though all may seem fine her gut says otherwise and for the first time we agree with her as the defeat seemed a little too easy. Mitsuki finds Hinata's compass, while in an emotional moment Trevante is finally able to go home to his wife after two years. But the joy is short-lived when the episode emulates a real typical sci-fi vibe where mankind goes to explore the spaceship previously shown in the desert and notice the surface ripping and glowing which was a decent build to foreshadow what happens next. In an exciting montage, we see Mitsuki's compass go haywire, Luke (Azhy Robertson) spotting a glowing blue aurora-like light in the sky and we know it's not going to be a happy end. In a familiarly confusing fashion, we suddenly see Casper met by Mr Murai (Togo Igawa) who gives him a compass, and the dream-like scenario leaves us even more baffled. The episode ends with all the main characters sensing something wrong and looking out to see a massive spaceship arrive which signals the end of the beginning.

Overall the series left many aspects blurred with us wondering about the workings behind the phenomenon that just seem to suddenly happen. The makers wanted a cool 'its all connected' plot but failed when it comes to explaining how, with Casper's condition of being connected to the aliens being the biggest question mark. Although a decent episode that came the closest to having an 'invasion' feel we're okay with the slow show being finally over.

All 10 episodes of 'Invasion' are now streaming on Apple TV+.
