'He is having toddler meltdown’: Internet reacts as Elon Musk suspends journos and Mastodon Twitter accounts
SAN FRANSISCO, CALIFORNIA: Twitter suspended its open-source competitor Mastodon's account on Thursday, December 15. Besides Mastodon, Elon Musk suspended some prominent journalists' accounts who extensively cover Twitter and Musk. Before its suspension, according to archives, Mastodon (@joinmastodon) tweeted a link to the jet tracking account on its own service, which is considered as the reason for the suspension.
However, both Twitter and Mastodon have not responded to the media queries. Meanwhile, according to The Verge, reports suggest that Mastodon has also tweeted about Elon Jet, a recently suspended page run by Jack Sweeney by Musk, which could be another reason behind the suspension.

After Musk's acquisition in October, mastodon became more popular as a possible alternative to Twitter. According to The Hill, Mastodon is not owned by a single company or person. It is a decentralized social media platform made up of a server network that runs independently but can connect to allow people to communicate. Further, funded by donations and grants and does not feature any ads.
The Tesla billionaire also tweeted recently, "Any account doxxing real-time location info of anyone will be suspended, as it is a physical safety violation. This includes posting links to sites with real-time location info. Posting locations someone traveled to on a slightly delayed basis isn’t a safety problem, so is ok," which was later deleted. It has also suspended famous journalists, including Ryan Mac of The New York Times, Donie O'Sullivan of CNN, Drew Harwell of The Washington Post, Matt Binder of Mashable, Micah Lee of The Intercept, and independent journalists Keith Olbermann and Tony Webster, and Aaron Rupar.
'Elon doesn't like competition I guess?'
The Internet quickly reacted to Mastodon's suspension. A user said, "He’s just in full toddler meltdown right now." Another added, "has there ever been a pettier man in existence?." "This gives the same energy as the people who tell their significant other they can't talk to other people lol," read a tweet. A user said, "This is from the guy who wants to be in charge of life on Mars." Another added, "That’s what they get for breaking the rules that Elon makes up on the spot depending on his feelings that day!." A user noted, "bird is free." A user claimed, "He should just set up a private Twitter for him and his five reply guys, he would be happier." A tweet stated, "Elon doesn't like competition I guess?." Another user wrote, "New levels of petty. Luckily, mastodon is doing just fine and is showing everyone a better model for social media, one that can't be bought or sold." "Twitter has severed diplomatic ties with Mastodon," stated another.
