LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Austin Butler is mocked again for his talk about the 'Elvis' role but this time, it is not about his voice but his way of weight gain for the film. The 31-year-old who heard of Ryan Gosling drinking microwaved Häagen-Dazs ice cream for gaining weight for a role then followed the same diet for himself and calling it "awful," he said, “I started doing that.”

In the clip of an upcoming podcast episode of Variety's 'Awards Circuit,' the Golden Globes winner said, "I would go get two dozen doughnuts and eat them all. I really started to pack on some pounds." He explained, "It’s fun for a week or so, and then you feel awful with yourself.” For the scenes in the film, the actor reportedly wore a bodysuit, according to Page Six.

Why was Butler slammed for his 'Elvis' voice?

For his role in 'Elvis,' the actor admitted that in the process of changing his voice for the film, he “probably damaged” his vocal cords. Including Vanessa Hudgens, his ex-girlfriend, many trolled Butler for still using Elvis Presley's southern twang even after a long time since the release of the critically acclaimed 2022 movie.

Blaming his muscular habits, the Oscar nominee told the Los Angeles Times in January, “If I was trying to sound like Elvis, I would sound very different right now." Irene Bartlett, the voice coach for Butler made a prediction that it is likely for his accent to remain "forever." She said, "It’s difficult to switch off something you’ve spent so much focus [and] time on," and added that his manner of speaking was "not put on."

'There had to be a better way'

Adding to another row of slamming Butler after his 'Elvis' role, the internet mocked the actor for his microwaved ice cream intake for gaining weight. Some of the users on social media pointed out the actor's previous claim of being lactose-intolerant. One Twitter user wrote, "While being lactose intolerant this man," and another wrote, "Wow he is really dedicated to this role with going that far and for him to be lactose this is crazy, I’m speechless and in awe."

"Why would you microwave ice cream?", a user tweeted while someone opined, This guy was in an Elvis movie once and literally made playing the character his whole personality well after it."

"Austin Butler drinking melted ice cream because Ryan Gosling famously did it for the lovely bones, is the most Austin Butler thing ever," a user commented and another remarked, "There had to be a better way." One user wrote, "He does know ice cream melts on its own right?," while someone tweeted, "We’re still talking about that movie and AB?
