Social media has erupted after Tampax posted a tweet about being in "their DMs". The classic Internet meme, stating, "You are in their direct messages," refers to romantically approaching someone. The chaos on Twitter has prompted many individuals and brands to come up with cheeky tweets.

"You're in their DMs. We're in them. We are not the same," Tampax US tweeted. The company later posted another tweet, a joke among many that have emerged on the social media platform after some 1,200 engineers resigned from the company. "Refused to let twitter shut down before we shared this tweet," Tampax wrote in reference to their initial tweet.

Elon Musk, who finalized his purchase of Twitter in late October, reportedly laid off half of the staff in early November. His ideas on how to distribute blue check marks prompted Eli Lilly and Company's stock to sink earlier this month. This happened after a Twitter account imitated them and announced insulin was now free. Issues like these have caused various advertisers to leave the platform.

Musk even wrote a memo to employees last week, telling them they needed to be "extremely hardcore" and "working long hours at high intensity" to join "Twitter 2.0." In case they were not interested, they could be removed and would be given three months' severance.

Twitter has been reacting hilariously to Tampax's tweets. "Tampax out for blood," one user wrote. "So am I but with no strings attached," wrote another user. "This tweet brought to you by King Charles III," one user wrote, referring to a leaked call transcript where Charles joked to Camilla that he wanted to be close to her like a tampon.

"*Spits drink* King Charles has 24 hours to respond," one user wrote, while another said, "Bloody right we aren't." "Tampax needs to give their social media manager a raise for these tweets," one user said.
