Amy Schumer has hilarious take on being BLAMED for P&G tampon shortage: 'Don’t have a uterus'
Update: Amy Schumer has responded to Procter & Gamble's bizarre claims that she is responsible for a nationwide shortage of tampons. Schumer took a screenshot of an article and posted it with the caption, "Whoa I don’t even have a uterus". She wrote the comment referring to her earlier revelation that she had had her uterus and appendix removed to combat endometriosis.
After the baby formula shortage, a tampon shortage in parts of the US is causing distress among women. In the midst of the issue, one of the main producers of feminine hygiene products, Procter & Gamble, has blamed Amy Schumer for the problem, according to Time Magazine.
Back in 2020, Procter & Gamble hired the comedian for its Tampax ad campaign. However, the company has now said that the campaign sparked a run on tampons that has left no option but to keep the factory going 24 hours a day to keep up with the increasing demand.

Schumer, 41, appeared in advertisements for Tampax with the aim of normalizing conversations about menstruation. Time wrote, "Ask Procter & Gamble why it is so hard to find tampons right now, and the company will blame Amy Schumer. P&G, which makes Tampax, America’s most popular tampon brand, launched a new ad campaign with the comedian in July of 2020."
“Retail sales growth has exploded,” company spokeswoman Cheri McMaster reportedly said. She added that demand is up 7.7% since Schumer starred in the series of commercials, seemingly pointing towards how her star power had the desired effect on their sales, but which eventually backfired.
Back in 2020, P&G had enthusiastically announced their partnership with Schumer. “When we chose to focus on tampon and period education, we knew Amy Schumer was a perfect fit because Amy doesn’t shy away from anything,” they had stated in a press release.
“Our goal is to make period and tampon conversations as normal as periods and the first step is getting people comfortable talking about them,” they had added. “We hope this partnership and our new, engaging ‘edu-tainment’ period and tampon content will encourage more people to laugh, talk and learn about them.”
BREAKING REPORT: Procter & Gamble blames AMY SCHUMER for Tampax tampon shortage alleging 'hit ad campaign sparked a run on the products' that forced the company to run factory 24 hours a day to keep up with rising demand...

Time reporter Alana Semuels, however, questioned whether contemporary commercials have the power to cause such an issue alone. Other brands of tampons, like Playtex, are also struggling due to short supply, but they do not have Schumer to blame. Time also claimed that the Covid-19 pandemic may be partially responsible. During the pandemic, materials like cotton, plastic and paper pulp, which are used to make tampons, were in high demand for making masks and other personal protective equipment. This could have put pressure on the supply chain. Other contributors to this issue are factory closures and staff shortages.
Procter & Gamble's bizarre claims have been slammed on social media. "I’m sorry, WTF did you just say?" one user wrote. Another commented, "I doubt the ad was the cause. Most likely a supply chain issue like everything else." "So, THEY HIRED someone to do the job, AND SHE DID, and now THEY’RE bi***ing!? You can’t make this sh** up!" said one user.
