Inside Reba McEntire’s relationship with Rex Linn as singer dazzles in dreamy blue velvet gown at CMA Awards
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: The 56th Annual CMA Awards at Bridgestone Arena saw icon Reba McEntire making her way to the country music's biggest night in a dreamy blue velvet gown with a low neckline and small slit up at the bottom. She paired the stunning outfit with silver peep-toe pumps. The 67-year-old singer, along with Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood, also opened the show with a moving tribute to the late legendary country singer Loretta Lynn, who passed away on October 4, 2022, at 90.
McEntire was joined by her boyfriend Rex Linn who donned a black suit with a navy tie. Sharing a picture of them from the night, McEntire said, “Sunny and Buck clean up good! #CMAawards #BigSky #Fancy.” For those who don’t know, the couple first met while shooting 1991’s ‘The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw’. They stayed in touch throughout the years but it was in January 2020 that they finally started dating each other.

Talking about their relationship, McEntire said, as quoted by Outsider in December 2020, in her podcast called 'Living & Learning With Reba McEntire', "I met him in 1991 when we were doing Kenny Rogers’ movie ‘The Gambler'. We were both on that in 1991." "And we’ve kept in contact with each other over the years. We both know the same people,” added McEntire, who was earlier married to her then-manager Narvel Blackstock. The couple separated in 2015.
McEntire started dating Anthony “Skeeter” Lasuzzo in 2017, with whom she parted ways in 2019. "Then in January 2020, I saw him [Rex] again when I shot an appearance on the TV show Young Sheldon, which he is on. He said, 'Let's have dinner when you get through.' And I said, 'OK!' He made me laugh my butt off on our first date, which we didn't even know was a date," the singer described to People.
Then Covid hit. "He was in Los Angeles, and I was in Oklahoma because my Mama had just died. We didn't get to see each other from March to June, but we'd talk over Zoom and FaceTime four to five times each day. We created a bond and an intimacy that was getting to know each other without being physical," she said, adding, "He's the love of my life. We're pretty much inseparable."
McEntire and Linn currently play husband and wife in the latest season of ABC's drama 'Big Sky'. Commenting on that, she told People, "To play husband and wife, it's natural for us. Rex and I rehearse all the time to make sure that when we step on that set, we're not wasting anybody's time. We're professionals. We have our stuff together, we show up on time, we're ready. We're not holding up anybody because time is money on the TV set."
"It’s just great getting to talk to somebody who I find very interesting, very funny and very smart, and is interested in me too," added McEntire, who calls Linn "Sugar Tot", while he calls her "Tater Tot", according to the US Magazine.
