Inside Jennifer Gates' NYC home as Bill Gates slashes price on pregnant daughter's apartment
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Bill Gates has listed his daughter’s New York City apartment for sale at an eyebrow-raising amount. It appears that the billionaire is willing to bear the losses in the process. The Microsoft founder purchased the three-bedroom space for $5 million in cash, through a trust administered through Watermark Estate Management Services LLC, which he uses for his personal and family matters. The condo located at 1212 Fifth Avenue is now on the market listed for $4.75 million.
The tech mogul bought the East Side residence for his now-pregnant daughter, Jennifer Gates, so she would have a place to reside after she graduates from Stanford University. In October 2021, Jennifer tied the knot with Egyptian showjumper Nayel Nassar and is now due with her first child in a few weeks. Jennifer, who is reportedly having a baby girl, has likely grown out of the home that overlooks Central Park. Thus, she stopped living at the condo, explaining why Gates is now selling it.

The 2,400 square feet home features coffered ceilings and huge windows which lets in ample sunlight and show off a picturesque view. There have been a few changes since Jennifer began residing in the condo including broadening the living and dining room areas along with the addition of a wet bar and a wine fridge. The third bedroom was upgraded into a home office or a media room, as per NY Post.
The eat-in kitchen was renovated as well with Miele, Bertazzoni appliances and custom Italian cabinets being added. The corner primary suite has three closets with a marble ensuite bathroom that is detailed with heated floors and a freestanding soaking tub. The Building conveniences include a 24/7 concierge-attended lobby, a live-in resident manager, a 2,600-square-foot fitness center, a residents’ lounge, and finally a children’s playroom, as per the outlet. Real estate consultant Toni Haber of Compass is holding the listing.
On December 20, Gates hinted that he is planning on retiring on his blog, GatesNotes. "I turned 67 in October. It’s hard to believe I’m that old — in America, most people my age are retired!" he wrote in the blog post. "Although I don’t care where I rank on the list of the world’s richest people," he wrote, "I do know that as I succeed in giving, I will drop down and eventually off the list altogether."
Gates wrote further, "I started looking at the world through a new lens recently — when my older daughter gave me the incredible news that I’ll become a grandfather next year. Simply typing that phrase, ‘I’ll become a grandfather next year,’ makes me emotional. And the thought gives a new dimension to my work. When I think about the world my grandchild will be born into, I’m more inspired than ever to help everyone’s children and grandchildren have a chance to survive and thrive."
