BROOKLYN, NEW YORK CITY: In a developing story from New york, investigation officers believe that a body found in two suitcases in an apartment in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn, belongs to a 22-year-old woman. A complaint about a missing tenant and a "foul odor" emanating from the apartment led apartment security to the discovery. The body was found on the sixth floor of the ten-story building on Wednesday afternoon, September 21.

The woman's 23-year-old boyfriend, who allegedly occasionally lived in the apartment, stopped a security guard from entering the residence. When the security guard returned downstairs to call the police, he saw the boyfriend and another man smuggle out a suspected bag of evidence. The guard returned upstairs to the apartment at that point and found two suitcases containing the woman's remains in a blood-soaked bathroom and a meat cleaver in the apartment. Detectives are currently on the hunt for the boyfriend. The woman apparently had a protection order in place against him, valid until the end of the month. However, in the past, he had violated the order by turning up at her place regardless.

Around 1.30 pm, police were called to 315 Linwood Street in East New York after a foul order was reported in a home on the sixth floor, according to sources. A "large amount of blood" was reportedly discovered there and authorities said they are investigating.

Friends describe the victim as sweet and humble, and a neighbor recalls her as a young girl who had not yet lived. She moved in when the affordable housing facility first opened two years ago. According to neighbors, the woman was seen fighting with her boyfriend just two weeks ago.

The gruesome incident has left everyone in shock. Neighbor Lindsey Vena told ABC7, "This neighborhood is not the best neighborhood, to be honest with you, but this is outrageous. Absolutely outrageous. It makes me scared to even be around here. I'm just sick." She added, "This is scary. I live here with my family and it's just kind of wicked knowing that there's somebody doing something like this where you lay your head at night."

The investigation is still open and ongoing, with a medical examiner expected to determine the cause of death soon.
