Inside Bruce Willis and Brooke Burns' doomed 10-month engagement
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Bruce Willis, the 'Die Hard' actor, has been diagnosed with aphasia, a condition that causes a person to lose the ability to communicate. Last March, his family announced that he would be retiring from acting indefinitely. Bruce is being cared for by his current wife, Emma Heming Willis.
Bruce was previously married to Demi Moore and engaged to former 'Baywatch' star Brooke Burns. Celebrity fans are still curious about what happened between Burns and Bruce more than a decade after their feud became public. In 2004, People insiders close to the actors reported that Bruce, then 49, and Burns, then 26, the former host of NBC's 'Dog Eat Dog,' had reportedly split peacefully "within the last week or so"

What was reason behind Bruce Willis and Brooke Burns split?
In 2003, it was believed that the 'Baywatch' actress and the 'Die Hard' icon would marry after falling for each other so quickly. Burns even spent time with Bruce's children from his marriage to actress Demi Moore. Both of them dressed and made red carpet appearances together. In many ways, they seemed to be the quintessential Hollywood couple, but after only nine short months, they abruptly parted ways.
Insiders claim that the long distance was the reason for Bruce and Burns' abrupt split in 2004. While a source close to the duo claimed that the ex-couple "remain friends," they told People magazine, "It's very difficult to maintain a relationship when they're 3,000 miles apart." However, this much-publicized, short-lived relationship may have been triggered by other factors. In reality, both individuals were literally and figuratively juggling baggage.
Divorce, engagement, breakup, marriage
Interestingly, Burns and Bruce connected after their divorces. After her 2002 divorce from 'Nip/Tuck' actor Julian McMahon, with whom she has one child, Bruce and Burns "quietly started dating [in 2003]," reports PEOPLE. After almost 11 years of marriage, Bruce and Demi Moore divorced in 2000, so he was still getting used to being a bachelor and raising his three daughters without a partner. Perhaps Burns and Bruce's romance evolved into a rebound engagement that ended naturally.
After their separation, Willis began a relationship with Emma Heming, a model and actress, whom he married in 2009. Together they have two daughters. Burns has been married to director Gavin O'Connor since 2013; the couple also has a child together. Even though the short relationship of Burns and Willis did not work out, it seems that everything went well for these ex-Hollywood stars.
Bruce Willis is now an experienced father, although the subject of co-parenting was new to him when he started. Bruce seems to avoid drama in all aspects of his life, if you look at his past relationships, including his engagement to Brooke Burns.
