The inspirational life of Danny Trejo, legendary actor, who is also known by his popular nickname Machete, is the subject of a brand-new documentary. The feature-length documentary film, titled 'Inmate #1: The Rise of Danny Trejo', follows the story of the actor's journey from substance abuse and imprisonment to celebrity and stardom.

Plot

The documentary covers the story of Danny Trejo's life, starting with his childhood and his addiction to heroin at a very young age. It then goes into his time stepping in and out of prison and features a number of people from Robert Rodriguez and Michelle Rodriguez to Trejo himself talking about the journey that took him out of prison and onto the path of self-actualization.

We will be hearing about how Trejo got his first movie role simply by being in the right place at the right time. We'll also be seeing the impressive odds that Trejo has overcome to become the legend he is today. And most of all, we will be getting a behind-the-scenes look at one of the most inspirational stories ever to happen in real-life.

Brett Harvey

Harvey is an internationally acclaimed documentary film director from Vancouver, Canada. He is best known for his debut documentary 'The Union: The Business Behind Getting High', which was named the 'Best Canadian Documentary' of 2007 by the National Film Board and for his later documentary films 'The Culture High' and 'Ice Guardians'. Harvey is the director behind 'Inmate #1: The Rise of Danny Trejo', which has already won the Audience Choice Award for 'Best Canadian Documentary' and 'Best Overall Film' at the Calgary International Film Festival.
