'Everyone's losing it': Ruby Tuesday Matthews defends shaving newborn's head to make hair grow 'thicker'
BYRON BAY, AUSTRALIA: The internet went crazy when an influencer revealed that she shaved her daughter's head. The 27-year-old Byron Bay celebrity, Ruby Tuesday Matthews, shaved her newborn daughter Holiday's head, sending her followers into a frenzy over her unconventional parenting style. Ruby replied that she shaved the heads of all her three children at the age of four months to make the hair more manageable.
"My kids are born with dark hair that looks crazy patchy. I find shaving it makes it grow faster, thicker and so much more even," she explained on her Instagram story. She gave birth to her baby girl in September. The social media influencer has 2,36000 followers on social media.

One admirer noted that it "works beautifully" that they also shaved their daughter's head. "Looks horrible for a few weeks but well worth it," they said. Another said, "I did this too and everyone lost their mind. But I'm a hairdresser and it actually works."
She replied to many followers who were whipped into a frenzy by adding another story explaining the reason. Her story read, "Lol everyone is losing it that I have shaved Holiday's head. I have actually shaved all my children's heads at about four months. My kids are born with dark hair that slowly falls out and end up looking crazy patchy and the hair holds off growing. I find shaving makes it grow faster thicker and so much more even. This is also done by a lot of cultures for tradition and some for looks. My aunty, who is Indonesian told me about it. It's crazy, I can already see her tiny blonde hair coming in, now her baby fluff is gone."
Ruby, and her fiancé Shannan Dodd, can't wait to celebrate "Holiday's first holiday." Holiday was dressed in a pink baby grow as she shared her excitement on Instagram.
There were more than 19,900 likes and positive comments on the image. Ruby gave birth to Holiday, the couple's first child in September. The influencer, who has two kids named Rocket and Mars with her former partner Ryan Heywood, shared the good news with her Instagram followers along with a video of her little daughter in her cot.
"20.09.22 - 2.56kg - 8.41 am at 36 weeks. Our hearts are overflowing and we are completely in love,' she wrote in the caption. According to Ruby and Shannan's Instagram relationship status, they started dating in May 2021, but the exact date is unknown. They announced their engagement in June of the same year.
The nuptials will be followed by a "boujee lunch" with their closest friends, according to Ruby.
