The CW show 'In the Dark' has been markedly different in its second season. The first season saw Murphy Mason (Perry Mattfeld) rally to find out who killed her best friend, Tyson, who was working for Chicago crime boss, Nia Bailey (Nicki Micheaux). However, the second season has seen her directly work with Nia after her friends, Felix Bell (Morgan Krantz) and Jess Damon (Brooke Markham) ended up stealing money from Nia.

That hole got even deeper when Murphy agreed to store Nia's drug stash at her workplace, Guiding Hope, and even deliver them for her when she tried to bargain for Max Parrish's (Casey Deidrick) life. To recall, Max was arrested by Dean Riley (Rich Sommer) -- Tyson's actual killer who used to work for Nia but is actually a cop. Dean struck a deal with the police chief - if he caught Nia, then they would not pursue a criminal investigation against him.

As Felix and Murphy get drawn deeper and deeper into Nia's ring, their secrets were uncovered by their newest employee, Benjamin (Chris Perfetti), the slacker brother of Felix's girlfriend, Chelsea (Lindsey Broad). Ben is now blackmailing Felix and Murphy to keep their secret.

Meanwhile, Jess is finally tired of the secrets between her and Murphy, with a traumatic experience with Nia has eventually leading her to quit Guiding Hope and leave Chicago. However, before she goes, she asks Sterling (Natalie Liconti) to go with her. Sterling was sent by Nia's henchwoman, Sam (Cortni Vaughn Joyner) to spy on Guiding Hope, but she ended up falling for Jess.

We have also met a new character this season - Josh Wallace (Theodore Bhat), an IRS officer who comes to Murphy for help when he learns that he is going blind. Coincidentally, he is also investigating Nia.

In this week's episode, Murphy and Felix concoct a new plan to destroy Nia. The promo for this week's episode shows that they will try to do this by stealing Nia's latest shipment. If they don't, their lives are at risk because now they are working with Nia's competitor secretly. However, Josh's expertise could come in handy for Murphy this week and we may potentially see growth in their friendship.

Meanwhile, the synopsis for this week's episode suggests that Jess will be making a bold move with Sterling. We wonder what that is and if it will have anything to do with her returning to Chicago.

'In the Dark' airs on The CW on Thursday nights at 9/8c. Watch the promo for this week's episode below.
