'I like peace, mama': Claire Danes reveals sons' blunt reaction to her third pregnancy
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Claire Danes are about to welcome her third child with her husband Hugh Dancy, but she is facing some ‘opposition’ back home. Well, that’s right! The ‘Homeland’ star got a strong reaction from her younger son Rowan, 4, who bluntly expressed his displeasure to his mother. During her recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, ‘The Hours’ actress shared that both her sons are ‘less than thrilled,’ while the older son Cyrus, 10, "was sort of resigned to it. I mean, the worst has already happened. His name is Rowan," she joked.
The 43-year-old star added, “But Rowan has more to lose, he has more at stake." She further explained, "He was categorically opposed to the idea. He said, 'Yeah, no, no. I don't like it. I don't like it. I like peace, Mama.' I was like, 'You like peace?' That's rich, because that dude does not shut up. He said, 'When it comes out of your tummy, we'll give it to a family that doesn't have a baby ... 'cause we're done.' So no, he was less than thrilled," said Danes.

The mother of two then smartly reasoned with Rowan and got him on her side by telling Rowan, "when the baby comes out, it's gonna be pretty dumb, doesn't know a lot, so it's gonna need some assistance and some educating." She told Fallon, "That was interesting to him, he liked the idea of being sort of a condescending presence. So now he's a little more optimistic." Earlier, while talking with Access Hollywood during Golden Globes 2023 appearance, Danes revealed that she hadn’t planned on her third baby.
"Eek, I know. Number three. Prego. This one was not intentional. But here we go! I have Cyrus, he's 10 and Rowan is 4, and this one, yeah. Evenly spaced, but a broad spectrum," the ‘Stardust’ star said before stating, "We're excited, we're thrilled." On being asked if she knows the gender of the child, Danes replied, “[They] don't know yet" and are "rolling the dice." When she was pregnant with Rowan in 2018, the actress expressed her joy and said, "Pretty soon I get to retire for a little while and just be pregnant, which I look forward to," she said according to People. Reminiscing about her first pregnancy, she said, "It feels like a huge luxury. When I was pregnant with my first son, I worked until I was in my eighth month, so this feels like a huge gift, to have a chance to kick my feet up a little bit".
