How to stream 'Predator: Badlands'? Elle Fanning's sci-fi movie flips the script with unique backdrop
Set against the unique backdrop of making the Predator the main character instead of the villain, 'Predator: Badlands' will be available to stream sooner than fans expected. Released in theaters on Friday, November 7, the movie is the seventh film in the 'Predator' franchise and takes place after the events of 'The Predator'. The story follows Dek, a young Yautja outcast who crash-lands on a dangerous alien planet and forms an unlikely alliance with Thia (Elle Fanning), a damaged android from the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. If you missed the movie in theaters, here's how you can watch it comfortably at home.
For viewers in the United States, 'Predator: Badlands' will be available to stream on Hulu beginning Thursday, February 12. Fans who subscribe to the Hulu and Disney+ bundle can also watch the film directly through the Hulu hub on Disney+, making it easy to access from either platform. For audiences outside the U.S., the movie will be streaming internationally on Disney+, allowing fans around the world to enjoy it from home. Hulu offers a standalone plan starting at $12 per month, with an ad-free option available for $19 per month.
For those looking to save money and access multiple services, bundle plans are available, providing combined subscriptions to Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN. This makes it convenient for viewers to enjoy not just 'Predator: Badlands', but a wide variety of movies, shows, and live sports. Notably, 'Predator: Badlands' set a new box office record for the 'Predator' franchise, grossing $184.5 million worldwide, surpassing 2004's 'Alien vs Predator.' The hit came after director Dan Trachtenberg's animated feature 'Predator: Killer of Killers' on Hulu and builds on his breakthrough with 2022's 'Prey', which earned him two Emmy nominations for directing and writing and was praised as a fresh take on the franchise.
Thanks to the mega success of 'Predator: Badlands', Trachtenberg has signed a three-year first-look deal with Paramount Pictures. Under this agreement, he will develop, produce, and direct new projects for the studio alongside longtime collaborator Ben Rosenblatt. Trachtenberg previously worked with Paramount on his 2016 breakout hit, '10 Cloverfield Lane', as per ScreenRant. The director described the deal as "a dream come true," recalling, "As a kid I remember seeing the Paramount logo and dreaming of the epic adventure that would follow."
He added, "Now to have the opportunity to bring new huge and emotional stories to giant screens is literally a dream come true. Ben and I cannot wait to join Dana, Josh, Don, and the entire Paramount team in pursuing our shared vision of making Paramount once again the apex of cinema." Paramount co-chairs Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg praised Trachtenberg, saying, "Dan has an extraordinary ability to deliver films that are both daring and deeply entertaining. He has a rare instinct for tension, scale, and storytelling that connects with audiences worldwide. We're excited to welcome him to the studio."
