Ethan Hawke's 'Black Phone 2' is finally streaming — here's how to catch the chilling sequel
Ethan Hawke's The Grabber is once again all set to send chills down your spine! Following the epic box office success of 'Black Phone 2', the horror film is now set to make its streaming debut on Peacock. The movie, which had a theatrical release on Friday, October 17, 2025, is a sequel to the 2021 supernatural horror hit 'The Black Phone'. The sequel continues the story of Finney (Mason Thames) and his family after his terrifying encounter with the serial killer known, The Grabber. So, if you missed the chaos on the big screen, let's find out how you can watch the film from the comfort of your home.
Reportedly, 'Black Phone 2' is set to begin streaming on Peacock on Friday, January 16, following its successful box office run. Directed by Scott Derrickson and co-written with C. Robert Cargill, the film brings back Hawke's iconic masked killer, The Grabber, in a story that leans deeper into the supernatural and has earned strong praise from critics and audiences, including Stephen King, who called it better than the original, as per Collider.
Set four years after the first film, the sequel follows Finney and his sister Gwen (Madeleine McGraw), who is haunted by disturbing visions and calls from the black phone involving missing boys at a winter camp. As the siblings investigate, they uncover dark connections between their family and The Grabber, who has grown even more dangerous in death, forcing them to confront the killer once again.
Talking about the 'Black Phone 3', director Derrickson downplayed the idea of a third movie, making it clear that a third film is far from certain, as per Polygon. Speaking after Black Phone 2's premiere, he said, "I can't think about filmmaking that way," explaining that while he understands studios' interest in franchises, "as a filmmaker, I have to go one film at a time."
On the other hand, Cargill said he and Derrickson would happily reunite with 'Black Phone' stars Thames, McGraw, and Hawke, noting, "Would we love to get the band back together? Absolutely." However, he stressed that a third film would only happen if the story truly warrants it, explaining, "It all comes down to: Is there a good enough idea to justify us putting a year of our life into making that?" Cargill added that the commitment required is significant, saying, "When you commit to a movie, that becomes part of your life for at least a year… so it's really got to be something really great and inspiring for us to want to make a third one."
