LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 started streaming on HBO on June 16, 2024. The epic action-adventure series has got the world buzzing about it as they heap praises on the deep plot lines and magnificent action sequences.
'House of the Dragon' Season 2 has also been appreciated for the performance of an actor who has gotten into the skin of his character and delivered a performance so layered and nuanced that you can barely differentiate between him and his character.
The actor here is Tom Glynn-Carney who plays the character of Aegon II Targaryen. He plays an arrogant King who has been made a King much before he could have the maturity to handle the position. He has flaws aplenty but his character when looked at from an empathetic eye, is also vulnerable. Fans are impressed with Tom's performance and have been raving about it online.
Fans praise Tom Glynn -Carney's performance in 'House of the Dragon' Season 2
Fans have taken to Tom's portrayal of Aegon II Targaryen and his performance has been praised from all corners for his presence and occasional vulnerability.
A Reddit user wrote, "TGC has been the best character this season, I was most looking forward to seeing more of this season and he hasn’t disappointed! Definitely my favorite character of the season so far. Aegon II has been given more layers and character development at the beginning of this season and has also added some much needed comedic relief. We’re about to see his big moment in the upcoming episode where he finally will ride Sunfyre and fight in battle which leads to his crippling injuries causing him to likely be out of commission and placed in the background the rest of this season.''
Another Reddit user added, "That scene in E3 when he’s being fitted for armor and his buddies are joking around and he just straightfaces them till they smarten up, pure terror in all his buddies faces lol," praising a scene where he asserts his authority over his friends who he has appointed as Kingsguard.
Another Reddit user commented, "His immaturity, stupidity, and cruelty as well. You simultaneously despise and disdain him while also feeling sorry for him. Unlike Joffrey, Aegon seems like he could have been a good person if he had a better upbringing and proper guidance," differentiating him from 'Game of Thrones' character Joffery who was another arrogant King.
Another Reddit user said, "He really has brought a lot of complexity to Aegon. In Season 1, I thought Aegon was just a complete douche. Tom has brought a lot more "grey" to the character that makes me step back and go "why is Aegon the way that he is?" and really look at family dynamics."
