High1 Seoul Music Awards 2021: Live stream, time, nominations and all about K-Pop award show featuring BTS, NCT and Stray Kids

High1 Seoul Music Awards is just around the corner and the popular K-pop award show is all set to celebrate the grand achievements of K-pop. This year, the main category award nominations feature Grammy-nominated global superstars BTS, the nation’s favorite K-pop girl-group Twice, rising popular group seventeen, Big Hit Entertainment’s rookie group Enhypen, SM Entertainment’s NCT and more.

High1 Seoul Music Awards will observe its 30th edition this year which will take place on January 31. The highly prestigious award show started back in 1990 to highlight the artistry of the Korean music industry which features an array of diverse genres including ballad, hip hop, R&B along with original soundtracks for K-dramas and films. This year, the award show will be observed without the presence of a live audience and can be live-streamed all over the world.

High1 Seoul Music Awards is taking place on Sunday, January 31, at 6.50 pm KST (4.30 am EST)

While the official lineup of the show is yet to be released, the nominations of SMA organized by the Seoul Music Awards organizing committee features a star-studded K-pop lineup of globally popular stars. For the main award, BTS, EXO, Blackpink, NCT 127, Stray Kids, IU, GOT7, Hwasa, Iz*one are a few who would be competing for the trophy.

In the rookie award category, SM Entertainment’s Aespa will be competing with Enhypen, YG’s Treasure, Wei, STAYC, and more. Check the nomination list here.

Concept

According to the official site, High1 Seoul Music Awards aim to unite the best of K-pop and other music genres in one place to celebrate the global K-wave. This year, the winners of Grand, Main and Rookie Prizes will be additionally awarded a ‘Muse Trophy’ which marks the excellence of art, and the shape of the trophy symbolizes the goddess muse of music. 



 

Pre-buzz

With the SMAs right around the corner, fans have been speculating the lineup and more of the award show. A Super Junior fan said, “3 years ago today; 180125 SMA 2018 (Hope we get to see D&E going onstage this year to receive an award!” Another Enhypen fan posted, “SMA will release their lineup this week. Let's hope that #ENHYPEN will attend and accept a trophy for ROTY. Award show will be on Sunday, January 31.”
