Emmys 2020: H.E.R.'s moving performance leaves fans emotional, Internet says ‘she deserves all the respect’
Singer-songwriter H.E.R. (pronounced “her”, a backronym for Having Everything Revealed) gave a stellar performance at the 72nd edition of the Primetime Emmy Awards. The American vocalist performed the cover of Prince’s hit single ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ with stunning graphics in the background for Emmy’s In Memoriam.
Speaking about her performance at the Emmys, the 23-year-old crooner had earlier told E! Online, “I'm definitely gonna be bringing out some instruments and I think it's going to be very emotional. And that's all I'm gonna say. I want it to be special, I want it to be a surprise, but I think you're gonna love it.”
H.E.R.’s special performance was dedicated to late Chadwick Boseman, Naya Rivera, Regis Philbin, Kirk Douglas, Diahann Carol and other stars whom we lost this year.
The lovely performance by H.E.R was loved by one and all. The fans gave her thumbs up on Twitter with many praising the singer’s voice. One user stated, “Such a moving and beautifully produced In Memoriam segment during the #emmys accompanied by H.E.R. The graphics were fantastic.” One took to Twitter and posted, “H.E.R. deserves all the respect put upon her name! That was the best cover of 'Nothing Compares 2 U' #emmys”

H.E.R. with the most fun song choice ever with that Prince and then giving an INSANELY moving performance... Most memorable moment of the night goddamn.” Another added, “That was possibly the best cover of a Prince song I've ever heard in my life. H.E.R. is simply incredible! #Emmys #InMemoriam” One follower said, “That was a beautiful performance from H.E.R. Rest in peace to the many, many people we lost this year #Emmys”

Additionally, a speech by Chadwick Boseman was played behind H.E.R. as she finished her performance. The speech previously delivered by the ‘Black Panther’ star read, “Purpose crosses disciplines. Purpose is an essential element of you. It's the reason you're on the planet at this particular time in history. The struggles along the way are only meant to shape you for your purpose.”
This year’s Primetime Emmy Awards are a little different due to the pandemic. Comedian Jimmy Kimmel returned to host the renowned award show where the awards were presented virtually for the first time.
