LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘The View’ is one of the few shows that takes pride in the diverse topics it chooses for its panelist to discuss. Led by Whoopi Goldberg in a way, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Sarah Alyssa Griffin all bring their traits and point of view to these thriving discussions. The hosts usually have a few hot topics up their sleeves to dive into and discuss, taking in everyone’s opinion.

However, the latest episode of ‘The View’ veered away from its known territory, abandoning the followed structure and paving the way for a different format to emerge. Viewers noticed that the hot topics were missing and Goldberg could not help but squeeze out everything she could out of just one topic. This led the viewers to question the show’s changing format.

Has ‘The View’ adopted a new format?

‘The View’ is renowned for the freeform nature of discussions about a variety of topics. In the latest episode, one of the topics that the panelists discussed was about when the first reality show came into being. This led to a free exchange of ideas, opinions and facts about the genre with the show's producer, who waited in the wings while the women spoke. The studio audience and viewers across the country were taken aback and confused by a change in the format

Typically, the hosts have a variety of hot topics to discuss and rotate through them throughout the show. The latest episode, as per viewers, seemed to be lacking that, which was most likely due to the WGA strike going at the moment. The hosts did not have any option but to have spontaneous chats together about whatever topics happened to come to their minds. This led the viewers to believe that this major shake-up came because the hosts had nothing to talk about. This format may remain in place for a while till the said strike is resolved.

Whoopi Goldberg addresses WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike

During the latest episode of ‘The View’, Whoopi was quick to address the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strike. She clarified that the hosts on the show would continue to work. She said, “Like the soaps, soap operas, game shows, and new shows, we work under a different kind of contract, which is called the Network Code, which means we are allowed to continue. As we are not actors at the table, acting The View, it's a different kind of contract.” She said that she supported the writers’ cause and prayed for a speedy resolution to the strike.
