Harry and Meghan Netflix documentary postponed till 2023 following attacks on 'The Crown'
SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA: The untitled Netflix documentary, starring the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, appears to be impacted by the current state of affairs. The documentary that was scheduled to air in December of this year has been postponed and will now air in 2023. This was done in response to criticism drawn for the fifth season of 'The Crown'.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who have long drawn attention for their divisive style, seem to be becoming more conscious of their actions. Let's now explore the controversy surrounding 'The Crown' season 5, which is believed to take up on the events from '90s. Former UK Prime Minister John Major criticized the Netflix historical series for a plot line in Season 5 Episode 1 that implied Prince Charles, now King Charles III, had summoned Major in 1991 to complain about having to wait to ascend to the throne.

In one of the Season 5 episodes, an actual poll that was published in the UK Sunday Times indicated that the monarchy was out of date and that Queen Elizabeth should resign in favor of Charles.. A quote from the Sunday Times from 1991 that reads, "An ageing monarch, too long on the throne whose remoteness from the modern world has led people to grow tired not just of her but of the monarchy itself," is presented in the series with Charles, who is played by Charles Dominic West, secretly agreeing with it.
"Sir John has not cooperated – in any way – with The Crown. Nor has he ever been approached by them to fact-check any script material in this or any other series," a representative for Major stated on October 15, Saturday, as reported by RadioTimes. "Discussions between the monarch and prime minister are entirely private and – for Sir John – will always remain so."
Major has stated that there was no such discussion about a conspiracy to depose the late Queen and has referred to it as "a barrel-load of nonsense." The representative added, "There was never any discussion between Sir John and the then Prince of Wales about any possible abdication of the late Queen Elizabeth II – nor was such an improbable and improper subject ever raised by the then Prince of Wales (or Sir John)."
Following days of bad front-page news, Netflix executives thought it would be unwise to stream the Harry and Meghan documentary in December, followed by 'The Crown' in November. "They're rattled at Netflix, and they blinked first and decided to postpone the documentary," a source informed Deadline.
There is no confirmed air date for the untitled Netflix and Archewell Productions documentary series. Following Queen Elizabeth's passing on September 8—the day Charles succeeded to the throne—Netflix and Buckingham Palace have been extremely sensitive about both 'The Crown' and the docuseries. The Duke and Duchess may decide that it would be wise to postpone the documentary amidst all the current situation.
