‘Grey's Anatomy’ Season 17 Episode 1: Can Jackson fill Alex Karev-shaped hole in Jo's heart with THAT awkward kiss?
Alex Karev is gone! ‘Grey's Anatomy’ is back and so is that heavy feeling in our hearts for the loss of Justin Chambers' beloved character. Grieving him, Jo Karev (Camilla Luddington) asked for a 'sexual favor' from Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams). Woah! That's an odd beginning and certainly very, very unexpected. Jackson, trying to please Jo, sets up a lovely date with flowers, gifts and what-not. They kiss... only to leave Jo in tears.
Clearly, Jo is not over Alex! (NONE OF US ARE) — after he left her for his ex-wife Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl). Jackson had his soulmate in April Kepner (Sarah Drew) — only the makers saw it fit to let her go. After that, Jackson has had flings but none matched up to that level. Could Jo be his April and can Jackson fill the Alex Karev-shaped hole in her heart?
Fans are going bonkers after their awkward kiss and undone sex scene. "Jo could have just cried in the car after having sex with Jackson.... Alex we still miss you #GreysAnatomy," one tweet read and another said, "I’m never getting over the fact Jo ask Jackson for s*x and he agreed #GreysAnatomy." A third said, "JO AND JACKSON I knew the Alex thing shook her....but JACKSON AVERY!? #GreysAnatomy."
While many found the moment to be cringe-worthy, a few felt the relationship could work. "So weird seeing jo kiss someone other then Alex. I think I kinda ship jo and Jackson?! #GreysAnatomy," one fan said and another posted, "I didn’t think I could like Jo with anyone but Alex or Jackson with anyone but April but holy hell, I should’ve thought of this pairing earlier. Last season, Jackson and Vic (Barrett Doss) from ‘Station 19’ were together but they broke up by the end of it. In the first episode, we saw Vic landing up at Jackson's door unaware and opening her overcoat — only that the view wasn't meant for him. Sigh! Will Jackson date everyone on ‘Grey's Anatomy’ or will he finally find love with Jo? Only time will tell.
The next episode of ‘Grey's Anatomy’ Season 17 will air on ABC from 9 pm ET to 10 pm ET on November 19, 2020.
