Spoilers for 'Greenleaf' Season 5

Right at the end of the epic 'Greenleaf' series finale, it all boiled down to Grace Greenleaf's (Merle Dandridge) journey. It had started with the prodigal daughter's return home from Arizona and ended with her leaving the megachurch family, life and drama behind her as she moved to New York toward greener pastures, accompanied by Darius Nash (Rick Fox). Her story was pretty open-ended as was the rest of the family's and while that might seem disappointing, the news of a spinoff makes things look better.

Writer and creator Craig Wright and producer Oprah Winfrey have announced that a spinoff is in the works and something tells us, Grace might be at the center of it all. And we aren't the only ones speculating so. In the reunion special titled 'Greenleaf: Homegoing Celebration', Lynn Whitfield who plays Lady Mae also reassured that the writer and creator along with Oprah do have big plans in mind where she certainly sees "Lady Mae could show up every now and then." But while she doesn't reveal who or what the plot would entail, there's a high chance it's about Grace.

The final scene of the megachurch drama resembles one of its first scenes, where Grace had just come home and Lady Mae right on the footsteps of their home, asks her not to stir up chaos in her peace. The finale, however, saw Lady Mae thanking Grace for stirring chaos in her peace. The Bishop (Keith David) has died and Grace managed to get them the church back too. Her son AJ (Jacob Gilson) was going to live with Noah, and she was leaving Sophia Greenleaf (Desiree Ross) behind in Charity Greenleaf's (Deborah Joy Imani Winans) custody to travel to New York for a job offer. It was on Darius's encouragement, but as Grace left blowing a kiss to the family and in a poignant car ride as if she were to never return, it did leave ample scope for speculation as to whether this is what the spinoff will entail.

Fans busied themselves in cracking the code too, the first reactions being those of "So I'm guessing the spinoff is gonna be about Grace?" Soon speculative caps were alight with ideas, as one shared: "Are we getting a Grace spin off with her in New York finally with Darius. Zora getting her life together and AJ sometimes visiting? Other fans are of the opinion that "The Grace spin off should show us Grace's life before she came off and what it's like now." A fourth fan also enthused "Grace better have a spinoff series about her investigating work in NYC. I WILL WATCH THAT."

This overwhelming fan response rooting for a Grace-focused spin-off doesn't come as a surprise. She was the heroine of it all, everywhere and anywhere, for so long. So it makes sense why certain fans would feel "This spinoff needs Grace and dassit...if its about anybody else i aint watching."

Speaking of Grace, fans believe Sofia, Zora, and AJ are strong contenders too. "I feel like this spinoff is going to be about Sophia and Zora in New York or at least Zora cause it seems like she’s going there by herself right now. I can see grace in it too." As one fan explained: "This spinoff is NEEDED!! We need to know how AJ’s spiritual journey will turn out. Will Grace get the job and stay in NY? Or will she go back home? Is Zora gonna get that apartment in NY and live her best life? Is Sophia gonna go back to Hampton?"

'Greenleaf' series finale aires on August 11 at 9 pm only on OWN.
