'Greatness Code': Release date, plot, trailer and all you need to know about the Apple TV+ sports docuseries

Directed by Gotham Chopra, the opening season examines the crucial moments of top athletes and the instances that were instrumental in defining their careers

Sports fans are still not over ESPN's 'The Last Dance'. The 10-episode series gave a gripping account of the 1998 season of the Chicago Bulls. Most networks have given sports fans across the world something to make up for the absence of live sports after the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic. Alongside 'The Last Dance' was TNT'S 'Shaq Life', Showtime's 'Ringside', 'Basketball County: Into the Water' and ESPN's 30 for 30 series that included, 'Lance', 'Be Water' and 'Long Gone Summer'. 

And now, Apple TV+ has decided to give fans the next big sports documentary in 'Greatness Code'. The seven-episode shorts will see a string of untold stories and pivotal moments in the lives of top athletes like Tom Brady, LeBron James and Alex Morgan among others.  Here's what we know about the sports docuseries ahead of its release.

Plot

The seven-episode short-form series, according to a press release by Apple TV+, sees Season 1 examine the crucial moments of top athletes and the instances that were instrumental in defining their careers. The athletes in Season 1 include:

Four-time NBA MVP, three-time NBA champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist LeBron James

Six-time Super Bowl champion and four-time Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady

Olympic gold medalist and co-captain of the US Women's National Soccer Team Alex Morgan

Record-holding Olympic gold medalist snowboarder Shaun White

World's fastest man and eight-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt

Five-time Olympic gold medalist and 15-time world champion swimmer Katie Ledecky

Eleven-time world champion surfer Kelly Slater

Director/Writer

Gotham Chopra serves as the director of the much-anticipated sports docuseries. According to the release, the project is a co-production between sports content platforms Religion of Sports co-founded by Chopra, Brady and NFL Hall of Fame legend Michael Strahan, and Uninterrupted, the athlete empowerment brand founded by LeBron and Maverick Carter.

The 90-second trailer provides a quick glimpse of Lebron, White, Brady and Morgan sharing some of their experiences and combines it with powerful visuals. "When the pressure is higher, when more is on the line, it's even more important you perform," says Morgan in her introductory shot in the trailer. 'Greatness Code' promises some scintillating stories and fans will be eager to listen to their idols when the episodes drop on July 10.
