Grammys 2020: John Legend, DJ Khaled and more pay tribute to Nipsey Hussle and Kobe Bryant, leave fans in tears
Grammys 2020 has been all about love, pain, tears and bittersweet nostalgia.
Lizzo began the show with a tribute to basketball player Kobe Bryant and it was followed by stellar performances by Alicia Keys, Usher, Jonas Brothers and Ariana Grande.
Aerosmith performed as well, provoking mixed reactions among fans and Demi Lovato's emotional performance moved many. And then, John Legend, Meek Mill, DJ Khaled, YG, Roddy Ricch and Kirk Franklin took the stage by storm with their tribute to slain singer Nipsey Hussle and Kobe Bryant. Hussle was awarded the best rap performance posthumously.
Fans had a lot to say about the tribute to Hussle. "Nipsey Hussle tribute is fire..." wrote one.
"This nipsey hussle tribute is gon make me cry again," tweeted another.
"#Grammys2020 I’m sitting here looking at the Grammys and that tribute to Nipsey Hussle and Kobe Bryant with some trail shit Long live the king's (sic)," wrote another.
A fan wrote, "Long live Nipsey Hussle. Him getting a gramophone early on was just fitting."
"The #NipseyHussle tribute was beautiful!" one fan wrote while another added: "That was so nice what they did on #Grammys2020 #KobeBryant #GiannaBryant #NipseyHussle absolutely beautiful... may they rest in peace."
