Grammys 2020: Sara Bareilles bags Best American Roots Performance for her song 'Saint Honesty' in her first win
The 62nd Grammy Awards, which recognizes the best recordings, compositions, and artists of the eligibility year, was held on January 26, 2020, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. As the pre-show premiere awards were announced, Sara Bareilles won the Best American Roots Performance Award for 'Saint Honesty'.
The first-ever Grammy winner beat the other nominees, including Calexico And Iron & Wine for 'Father Mountain', Rhiannon Giddens with Francesco Turrisi for 'I'm on My Way', I'm With Her for 'Call My Name' and Yola for 'Faraway Look'.
Fans are surprised how it took her this long to clinch her first win. "Sara Bareilles just got her first Grammy, how did it take this long?! #Grammys2020," one tweet read.
Music lovers are looking forward to a face-off between first-time Grammy nominee and performer Billie Eilish and Lizzo, who received the most nominations at the 2020 Grammys with a total of eight nods. This year's list of Grammy presenters includes big names, including Ava DuVernay, Bebe Rexha, Billy Porter, Brandi Carlile, Common, Cynthia Erivo, Dua Lipa, Keith Urban, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder and Trevor Noah.
Apart from Sara Bareilles, other artists who won an early award include Lil Nas X for Best Music Video, and Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.
Aerosmith, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are expected to take the Grammy stage together for the first time.
