Grammys 2020: Alicia Keys steals the show as host and performer, but fans are more impressed with her braids
Alicia Keys just rendered one of her most powerful performances with her new song 'Underdog' at the Grammys, however, fans seem more impressed by her braids.
The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards was a grand success, with Alicia hosting the award ceremony. There were performances by Lizzo, Billie Eilish, Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello, Gary Clark Jr, Usher, Jonas Brothers and many more.
Billie Eilish swept the award ceremony clean by taking home five awards. She also made history as the youngest artist to ever win all top four awards.
Along with her hosting duties, Alicia took center stage and rendered an electric performance along with Brittany Howard. The track is from her forthcoming album titled 'Alicia' that will release on March 20 via RCA Records.
Sitting on a stool, she sang, "They said I would never make it, but I was built to break the mold / The only dream that I’ve been chasing is my own." She ended her performance playing on an elevated piano while dancers continued their routine below.
Alicia's performance during the Grammys was praiseworthy. However, fans who watched her perform were more impressed by her braids than her vocals. The singer, prior to her performance, was wearing braids, and within the gap of a commercial break, had changed her hairstyle from braids to a slick bun.
Noticing the change in her hairstyle, fans on the Twitter question how the singer managed to do it over just a commercial break. "Didn’t Alicia have braids earlier in the show?!? Damn, black women do have to work twice as hard #GRAMMYs #GrammyAwards," a fan wrote.
"Am i crazy or did Alicia have braids in the beginning #GRAMMYs," a fan wrote while another posted, "Alicia took those braids out so fast and still fabulous #GRAMMYs."
"When did Alicia keys take out her braids??? Or was that a wig ?!?" wrote a fan while another shared, "Y’all really took those braids out of Alicia Keys hair during a commercial break? #GRAMMYs."
