And the award goes to...

BILLIE EILISH! For 'When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?'

The prestigious Album of the Year award was originally presented to specifically the artists who recorded the album, but over the years has expanded to include producers, songwriters, mastering engineers, and recording engineers or mixers as well. The category was also expanded in 2019 to include 8 nominees, and the award went to Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves and her team last year.

However, Eilish swept the Grammys this year taking home the big four. As the youngest artist to be nominated and winning all four, she makes history today. While accepting her award with brother and producer Finneas by her side, Eilish gave her fellow nominees a shout out, telling Ariana Grande she loved her album 'Thank U, Next' and believed she deserved the award just as much. The two shared a heartfelt moment before Eilish stepped back unable to say more, allowing Finneas to finish the speech and express their gratitude.

The other nominees for the Album of the Year in 2020 included ‘I,I’ by Bon Iver, ‘Norman F***ung Rockwell!’ by Lana Del Rey, ‘Thank U, Next’ by Ariana Grande, ‘I Used to Know Her’ by H.E.R., ‘7’ by Lil Nas X, ‘I Love You (Deluxe)’ by Lizzo, and ‘Father of the Bride’ by Vampire Weekend.

A lot of eyes were focused on Lizzo for being the most nominated artist of the year, as well as previous winners like Ariana Grande and H.E.R. Ariana Grande opted out of attending the Grammys last year after disagreements with the show producers on what songs she could perform on and was not in attendance to collect her Grammy for 'Sweetener'.

Lana Del Rey, who has received several nominations since 2014 was also up for the award but missed out again this year.

Fans of all fellow nominees have come forward with mixed reactions to Eilish taking home the award.
