Grammys 2020: Demi Lovato cries as she sings her new song 'Anyone', gets a standing ovation from audience

As Demi started to sing, the 27-year-old's voice cracked as she teared up. She had to stop and start again. This is her first performance since her overdose in 2018

Demi Lovato performed an emotional yet powerful rendition of her new song 'Anyone' at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards. This is her first performance since her overdose in 2018

The 'Sober' singer took to the stage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 26, night. As she started to sing, the 27-year-old's voice cracked as she teared up. She had to stop and start again. 

Wearing a white ball gown with diamond earrings and a  large marquise cut diamond ring to match it, the singer had tears streaming down her face as she sang, "I tried to talk to my piano. I tried to talk to my guitar. I tried to talk to my imagination. Confided into alcohol. I tried and tried and tried more. Told secrets ’til my voice was sore. Tired of empty conversation. Cause no one hears me anymore.”

Prior to her performance at the Grammy Awards 2020, Demi opened up revealing that she wrote this song just days before her overdose in July 2018. After she was done with her performance, the entire audience at the Grammys gave the singer a standing ovation. 

This emotional rendition didn't just bring the singer to tears, but fans and viewers who watched her performance too. Taking to Twitter a fan wrote, "BEAUTIFUL. LOVE YOU DEMI  RT @PerezHilton: Demi Lovato delivers an emotional #GRAMMYS performance, bringing the crowd to their feet." 

"OMG the most beautiful part of tonight: Demi Lovato #GRAMMYs," a fan wrote. Adding to that another said, "Holy fu*king Demi Lovato!! This has been a memorable #GRAMMYs."

"Well if this isn't the most heartbreakingly beautiful performance I've seen in a very long time. Like..wow Demi Lovato. #Grammys," shared a fan. While another wrote, "Ohh #DemiLovato - girl has a false start to her track 'Anyone' because she's visibly overcome with emotion, tears on her cheeks. Ofc, she starts again and crushes it. Magnificently done. Trevor Noah & Lizzo join the standing ovation #GRAMMYs."
