Ryan Gosling was nominated for his role of Ken in 'Barbie' and Robert Downey Jr won the award for playing Lewis Strauss in 'Oppenheimer'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Robert Downey Jr won the 2024 Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture Drama for his portrayal of Lewis Strauss in the Universal Studio film 'Oppenheimer'.

The latest event marked Downey Jr's fifth Golden Globe nomination and third win. However, Ryan Gosling was also nominated in the same category as Downey Jr for his role of Ken in 'Barbie'.

Both 'Oppenheimer' and 'Barbie' were released on the same day and were the breakout movies of the year, which brought thousands of audiences back to the theatre.

However, Gosling was snubbed by Downey Jr's at the Golden Globes and some viewers were quite disappointed with the results.

Furious critic took to X and tweeted, "Gosling got the snub. First blood to Oppenheimer." Another social media user penned, "Ryan Gosling >>>>>> robert downey jr."

Another internet user added, "Just watched Ryan gosling lose for his role for ken, that man was KENOUGH god damn you."

One person also said, "My favorite part of award season is the highs and lows liek the absolute undiluted joy I felt when Davine Joy Randolph won followed by such a disappointment with Robert Downey Jr won."

Another viewer speculated, "Ryan Gosling could have played Strauss just as well, but not a CHANCE Robert Downey Jr. could have played Ken."

Another tweet reads, "Ryan Gosling was robbed… But congrats to Robert Downey Jr!"

Robert Downey Jr thanks Universal Studios for rendering 'a goddamn masterpiece'

Robert Downey Jr appreciated Universal Studios' masterpiece after he won an award for his appearance in 'Oppenheimer'. The actor said in his acceptance speech, "Yeah, yeah, I took a Beta blocker so this is going to be a breeze."

He added, "A sweeping story about the ethical dilemma of nuclear weapons grosses 1 billion dollars, does that track?" Downey Jr then praised Cillian Murphy and Universal Studios.

Downey Jr noted, "No, unless and but because Universal went all in on Christopher Nolan, to direct Cillian Murphy with Emma Thomas producing with Emily [Blunt] and Florence [Pugh] and this cast and crew and helped them render a goddamn masterpiece."

Golden Globes 2024 host Jo Koy trolls Ryan Gosling's 'Barbie'

The Golden Globes 2024 host Jo Koy appeared to have a series of "awkward' monologues" at the award function. After trolling Taylor Swift, Koy took a dig at the Ryan Gosling starrer 'Barbie'.

The host referenced two of the popular films that won the 2024 Golden Globes and said, "Oppenheimer was based on a 700-page Pulitzer Prize-winning book and Barbie is based on a plastic doll with big b**bs."

Koy's dig seemingly wasn't appreciated by the audience, especially Gosling. As the camera panned immediately to Gosling, he failed to crack a smile at the awkward comment.
