Episode seven of the Discovery Channel docu-series ‘Gold Rush: White Water’ season three was fruitful for both ‘Dakota’ Fred Hurt and his son Dustin Hurt. Despite hitches along the way, both crews saw an abundance of gold at their respective site. But it was Dustin who hit the motherlode.

At the bedrock under the waterfall in “Rainbow’s End”, Dustin’s crew discovered the pocket of gold they were looking for. In only one dive, they managed to extract 12 ounces of gold.

What happens now?

In the promo at the end of episode seven, we saw ‘Dakota’ Fred express a lot of enthusiasm: “Dustin may be ahead now, but he ain’t ahead for long!” His enthusiasm is soon explained when we see a shot of the gold he had discovered at the big waterfall at “Two Fish” -- a bowl full of nuggets.

At Dustin’s end, things seemed to be getting more and more dangerous. The crew, presumably after dredging the bedrock under the waterfall, seemed to have decided to move further upstream. And over there, the eponymous “white waters” looked too harsh to navigate, let alone dive in.

Dustin’s crewmates Carlos Minor and Wess Richardson both expressed their trepidation in the promo. Minor said, “That’s harsh water, dude,” while Richardson said, “Yeah, I don’t think we’re diving in this.” The promo cut to one of the members losing their footing and almost get into an accident in the perilous waters.

But even with things seeming tough, there were rewards to be claimed. We saw ‘Dakota’ Fred showing off a piece of gold almost the size of his thumb. And on Dustin’s turf, they seemed to have found more gold than they knew what to do with.

As the third season of this docu-series nears its end, viewers can be sure of one thing. Both father and son would soon be richer than their wildest imaginations.

‘Gold Rush: White Water’ Season 3 airs on the Discovery Channel every Sunday at 10 pm ET.
