In an effort to aid those who have been deeply affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic that has swept the planet, Global Citizen and the European Commission are teaming up to bring us the Global Goal: Unite for Our Future - The Summit & The Concert. Both the summit and the concert will be available as live streams to audiences around the world, premiering on Saturday on June 27.

According to a statement by Global Citizen, "Putting an end to the Covid-19 pandemic means putting an end to it for all people, everywhere — including people of color, those living in extreme poverty, and all marginalized communities. On June 27, artists, world leaders, corporates, philanthropists, and Global Citizens will unite to drive forward the development and equitable distribution of tests, treatments, and vaccines, and mitigate the impact of Covid-19 on the world’s most vulnerable people."

Here's everything you need to know about the concert:

When is it

The Global Goal: Unite for Our Future concert will start streaming on June 27 at 2 pm ET / 7 pm BST / 8 pm CET. Meanwhile, the summit will air earlier, at 9 am ET / 2 pm BST / 3 pm CET. There will also be a delayed broadcast starting at 8 pm ET on numerous TV networks.

What's happening

The concert will feature music performances, expert insights, and commitments from government and corporate leaders to support the Covid-19 response.

"Global Citizens around the world are calling for systemic change, change that brings about justice for everyone, everywhere, regardless of where they were born or the color of their skin,” said Hugh Evans, the CEO of Global Citizen. “If we are to end Covid-19 for all, we need our world leaders to commit the billions of dollars needed to develop and equitably deliver testing, treatments, and vaccines. Global Goal: Unite for Our Future – The Concert will bring the centuries-old concept of music as a motivator for change and unity, together with science and data, to honor the problem-solvers – including doctors, scientists, lab workers, essential workers and human rights advocates – who are racing to not only create the cure for Covid-19, but also to ensure that it’s available for everyone who needs it.”

According to Global Citizen: "The concert will be televised and digitally streamed globally, and will highlight the disproportionate impact that Covid-19 is having on marginalized communities — including people of color, those living in extreme poverty, and other communities facing discrimination."
