'Ginny Weds Sunny': Meet Yami Gautam, Vikrant Massey and rest of the cast of Netflix's Bollywood rom-com

Yami Gautam is all set to make her digital debut with 'Ginny Weds Sunny', which premieres on Netflix on Friday, October 9. The film promises a wedding-themed comedy where a boy meets a girl in the pursuit of finding a wedding match. The filming was wrapped up in November 2019 but got delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The official synopsis of the film reads, "The film follows headstrong Ginny who meets Sunny for an arranged marriage, but turns him down, and then shows how Sunny teams up with Ginny's mother to win her love."

Yami Gautam will be playing the role of Ginni in the film. Born in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, Gautam decided to choose the path of acting when she was 20-years-old. She started appearing in several Indian television shows, like 'Chand Ke Paar Chalo' (2008–2009) and 'Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam' (2009–2010). In 2012, she made her Bollywood debut with 'Vicky Donor', which was critically acclaimed, apart from praises, she also got nominated for Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She was later seen in 'Badlapur' (2015) and in 'Kaabil' (2017). In 2019, she starred as an intelligence officer in the war film 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' (2019), which became one of the highest-grossing Indian films at that time. She later got critically acclaimed when she played the character of a TikTok star in the satire 'Bala' (2019). Not just films and TV shows, she is the face of many popular brands including, Glow & Lovely, Cornetto, Samsung Mobile, Chevrolet and many others.

Vikrant Massey

Vikrant Massey plays the character of Sunny in the film. Born on April 3, 1987, Massey started his big-screen career as a dancer. Massey, who is a trained ballet dancer, worked with choreographer Shiamak Davar and made his name when he choreographed the very famous song, 'Dhoom Machaao Dhoom'. Massey became a household name when he played the character of Shyam Madaan Singh in the TV show 'Balika VAdhu' on Colors TV. He has also appeared in several other TV shows including, 'Dharam Veer', 'Baba Aiso Varr Dhoondo', and 'Qubool Hai'. He made his big-screen debut with 'Lootera' where he worked with Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha. Later, he appeared in 'Dil Dhadakne Do' and eventually a supporting cast in 'Half Girlfriend'. He gained a lot of popularity through his work in various web series, including, 'Mirzapur', 'Criminal Justice' and 'Broken But Beautiful'.

Suhail Nayyar entered the Indian film industry in 2016 when he played a character in 'Udta Punjab'. He later appeared in 'Hotel Mumbai' in 2018 and will now be appearing in 'Ginny Weds Sunny' in 2020. In a 2019 interview with Deccan Herald, he talked about his passion and said, "Music is one of my biggest interests. I play the piano, write poetry and even rap sometimes. I understand the different nuances of music. If I had a good voice, I would have probably become a singer instead of an actor!"

Mansi Sharma

Mansi Sharma is an Indian actress and model who has appeared in 'Begum Jaan', 'Amaanat' and will now be appearing in 'Ginny Weds Sunny'.

'Ginny and Sunny' will stream on Netflix on Friday, October 9.
