NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: Shootings took place at a private Christian elementary school in Nashville on Monday, March 27, killing three children and three adults. A number of celebrities vented their frustrations at politicians on Twitter and urged the need for tighter gun control regulations.

The suspect is a transgender woman, age 28, who has no prior criminal history. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department reported that the Nashville woman murdered three children and three adult staff members at the Covenant School before being shot and killed by authorities. The shooter's identity had not yet been made public. On Twitter, everyone from comedians to country artists to a large number of actors and actresses, and many more well-known celebrities have responded to the horrific incident.

Kacey Musgraves, a Grammy Award winner, retweeted a message that read, "Marsha Blackburn has received more than $1.3 million from the NRA. She can only send prayers because anything more would be bad for business."

Later, in response to a tweet from Tennessee Governor Bill Lee that read, "I am closely monitoring the tragic situation at Covenant, & the @TNDeptofSafety & @TNHighwayPatrol are assisting local law enforcement & first responders at the scene. As we continue to respond, please join us in praying for the school, congregation & Nashville community." She responded, "Go arrest a drag queen, you coward."

Theodor Capitani von Kurnatowski, better known as Theo Von, a stand-up comedian from the United States, tweeted, "Praying for Nashville today and all involved with this tragedy. Heartbreaking that we continue to see this in our society."

Golden Globe Awards winner Valerie Bertinelli wrote, "Ban assault rifles not tiktok Ban assault rifles not books Ban assault rifles not voting rights Ban assault rifles not reproductive rights Ban assault rifles not health care Ban assault rifles not trans rights Ban assault rifles not gay marriage Ban assault rifles." She even responded to tweets made by Sen Marsha Blackburn, Gov Bill Lee and Senator Bill Hagerty by writing, "Blood is on your hands."

'Gun safety laws equals less gun violence'

Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill wrote, "Sending all of my love to The Covenant School family." Followill even retweeted a message by spanish chef, José Andrés, that read, "You are responsible for everyone of those deaths…..every children that will not go to bed tonight….every children that will not wake up tomorrow and go to school….never again….because you forgot that you are here to protect people….#gunreform is what will decrease shootings!"

"The Governor just called the school shooting in Tennessee a 'tragic situation'. Think about that," George Takei wrote. "Heartbroken to hear about The Covenant School shooting in Nashville. Please join me in praying for those who lost their lives and for the children, parents, families and friends affected," Tim Tebow tweeted.
