Ex-Nickelodeon star Drake Bell seen inhaling nitrous oxide from balloon weeks after he went missing and wife filed for divorce

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: All is not well for the former Nickelodeon star Drake Bell in April! Weeks after he was reported “missing,” the ‘Drake & Josh’ star was found inhaling balloons while sitting inside his car in front of his Los Angeles home.

On Tuesday, Nickelodeon’s ‘The Amanda Show’ star was filmed in the front seat of his car in the city, holding the tip of a balloon in his mouth. He was dressed in a black cap and a T-shirt. While it is unknown whether he was doing any substance abuse, a canister of what looks like nitrous oxide (N2O) was seen in his hand.

TMZ, who first reported the incident, also added that last December, Bell was found doing the same while his son was in the same car as him. Nitrous Oxide is known for making a person feel high without the use of any conventional drugs. However, inhaling nitrous oxide without medical supervision can prove to be hazardous to health.

April proved to be a tumultuous month for the ‘All That’ star. On April 13, the actor was found missing from Florida. Daytona Police Department shared in a Facebook post that “He is considered missing and endangered.” While he was later found safe by the police, he caused his family members to worry about him. “There was some communication with family members that caused concern so they are worried about him and looking for him,” commented an insider to Us Weekly. The insider added that his family members had no idea that the 'Found A Way' hitmaker was in Florida where his estranged wife Janet Von Schmeling has moved in with their son.

Following this, his estranged wife Von Schmeling filed for divorce in the latter half of April after separating from each other in September 2022. According to TMZ, who received the court documents, Von Schemling cited “irreconcilable difference” as the main reason and asked for primary legal and physical custody of their one-year-old son, Wyatt Bell. She also asked for spousal support.

A day later, on April 21, he tweeted, "I found out my wife filed for divorce from TMZ...," following a link to his new song 'Going Away' and a caption, "check out my new song."

Earlier that day, he also slammed the trolls who accused him of pedophilia by saying, "It truly blows my mind how mean people are on here to people clearly dealing with mental health issues. It's unreal how cruel you all can be."

Around April 18, he also took to Twitter to defend himself against the netizens who accused him of pedophilia. In one such reply, he said, "Nooooo I wasn't!! You people are destroying my life." While in another, he said, on being said, "Let’s not forget he’s a pedo" by a social media user, Bell replied, "Do a second of research This is what I have to live with everyday they are literally going to kill me. Bloods on their hands....," reports TMZ. His tweets are now deleted though.

Charges of child endangering

In 2021, Drake Bell pleaded guilty to a child-endangering case in 2017. A girl, who was then 15 years old, accused Bell of endangering her when Bell was scheduled to perform in Cleveland, Ohio, as reported by TMZ. Prosecutors were of the opinion that Bell, who was then 31, "violated his duty of care and, in doing so, created a risk of harm to the victim." He pleaded guilty and was asked to serve a probation of two years, reports Daily Mail.
