Fetty Wap appears jovial in court before pleading guilty to drug trafficking charges with 5-year prison
CENTRAL ISLIP, NEW YORK: Fetty Wap, whose real name is Willie Junior Maxwell II, pleaded guilty in a 2021 case of drug trafficking. The rapper faces a minimum of five years behind bars. The sentence could maximum go up to 40 years. The ‘Trap Queen’ hitmaker appeared in federal court and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances.
The 31-year-old rapper’s sentence comes after he was arrested in a separate case in the first week of August. Fetty Wap was arrested for flashing a gun and threatening to kill a man over FaceTime. Speaking of the latest, Wap’s guilty plea comes after he was arrested by the FBI on federal drug charges in October 2021 before his performance at 2021 Rolling Loud New York. The rapper and five others were accused of being part of a major drug distribution organization that moved over 100 kilos of heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, and crack cocaine in New York and New Jersey.

Fetty Wap pleads guilty to drug charges
According to the New York Post, Fetty Wap pleaded guilty telling the judge, “I agreed with other people to distribute cocaine,” adding that it was at least 500 grams and that some of the conduct occurred in Suffolk County. When asked how he’d like to plead, the controversial hip-hop artist said, “Guilty.”
A sentencing date has not been scheduled yet. Fetty Wap is currently being held in a special housing unit at a Brooklyn federal jail. He has been there since he was remanded into custody a few weeks ago. Fetty Wap’s attorney Elizabeth Macedonio told reporters that the plea was “standard” and the rapper is not cooperating with law enforcement. “He’s not cooperating. I want that to be very, very clear,” said Macedonio.
Wap, according to the publication appeared jovial during his proceedings. He repeatedly nodded, smiled, and exchanged words with a group of supporters. The rapper told “I Love You” to them before being ushered out by US Marshals following the hearing.
