'Fear the Walking Dead' Season 5 might have been a damp squib, but that didn't stop fans from waiting for the new season that was announced last year. Originally slated to release early Iin 2020, the AMC zombie apocalypse drama received a string of updates during its Comic-Con@Home panel.

The series is rated 73% on Rotten Tomatoes. This is quite close in comparison to 'The Walking Dead' which after ten seasons has an aggregated rating of 81%. Over the course of ten seasons of 'The Walking Dead', the show has had lean phases in terms of the plotline and this was a problem that was seen even in Season 5 of 'Fear The Walking Dead' which ended the season with mixed reviews. It had an average rating of 55%. One of the biggest complaints from fans was the element of horror that's declined by the season.

However, the new season is different and promises more chills and gore. Here's what we know about the prequel series.

Release date

'Fear the Walking Dead' Season 6 premieres October 11, 2020 at 9 pm ET on AMC.

Plot

Last we saw, Morgan Jones (Lennie James) was shot by Ginny (Colby Minifie) and left to die. However, it is unlikely his character arc would come to an end.  His season five finale message of "just live" was the most prominent feature in the teaser, and it ended with a close-up shot of him on the ground, with his red blood-shot eyes opening. According to a Digital Spy report, director of photography, Andrew Strahorn explained Ginny forcing the characters to split up at the end of the season would affect the upcoming installment. “The beginning of the season becomes somewhat of an anthology,” he remarked.

Cast

Is  Lennie James's Morgan alive? (AMC)

Mo Collins, who has played trucker Sarah since season four and Colby Hollman's Wes are slated to reprise their roles as well after being promoted to series regulars.

Writer/Director

Ian Goldberg and Andrew Chambliss attend the Season 10 Special Screening of AMC's "The Walking Dead" at Chinese 6 Theater– Hollywood on September 23, 2019 in Hollywood, California.

Showrunners and executive producers, Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg will be back at the helm for Season 6.

Trailer

The trailer opens with Walkers swarming in and Morgan's transformation. It also features a masked stranger with some astonishing action sequences. Ginny is shown to hire a bounty hunter to track down Morgan and find out if he's made it out after the ravaging assault.
