BURBANK, CALIFORNIA: Henry Cavill recently announced that he will not be returning to the 'Superman' franchise. 'Guardians of the Galaxy' director and DC Studios’ new co-chairman, James Gunn, is currently writing a new 'Super Man' movie. Gunn is writing story on the basis of the superhero’s younger years.

According to The Guardian, Cavill has played Superman since the 2013 film 'Man of Steel' and last appeared in the role in a brief cameo in 'Black Adam' earlier this year. Fans are disappointed that even though Cavill has been fired, Ezra Miller still gets a chance to be the lead in 'The Flash'

Internet slams 'The Flash' star Ezra Miller's official apology, say they can't 'honestly believe it'

Cavill wrote on his Instagram handle, "I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it's sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman. After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn't the easiest, but that's life. The changing of the guard is something that happens."

He further added,"I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes. For those who have been by my side through the years......we can mourn for a bit, but then we must remember.... Superman is still around. Everything he stands for still exists, and the examples he sets for us are still there! My turn to wear the cape has passed, but what Superman stands for never will. It's been a fun ride with you all, onwards and upwards."

Gunn also confirmed the news on Twitter, he stated, "Among those on the slate is Superman. In the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman's life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill." He further said, "But we just had a great meeting with Henry and we’re big fans and we talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future."

Meanwhile, Miller has been in the news for all wrong reasons for the past two years. However his movie by Warner Bros is set to arrive in theaters on June 16, 2023. Over the past several years, the actor has come under scrutiny for choking a woman in Iceland, been accused of allegedly 'grooming' children, faced multiple arrests for assault and burglary, and reportedly housed a mother and three young children on an unlicensed cannabis farm despite protests from their father. Hence, fans are angry about Cavill getting fired even as Warner Bros is still going ahead with Miller's 'The Flash' movie.

'Ezra Miller still has a job?'

Movie fans used social media to vent their frustration over how badly Cavill had been treated without cause, while Miller suffered no career consequences for his actions. A Twitter user wrote, "Ezra Miller rn after seeing all of the other actors getting their role axed while he still gets to play flash despite his criminal history and being in the news 24/7." Another added, "The flash movie will help to clean the image of that criminal 'Ezra Miller." A user explained, "So you announce Cavill not moving forward as Superman after putting in excellent performances and generally acting like a wonderful human being but Ezra Miller still has a job? Surely Ezra being kicked to the curb should have been the first announcement?." "Ezra Miller = The fastest criminal alive," read another tweet. Another user demanded, "Please get rid of Ezra Miller as Flash... independently of what he is accused of, it is the worst cast ever for a comic book character."

A user wondered, "I can maybe forgive Gunn not getting Cavil. But why is Ezra Miller's flick still alive?!."  Another tweet said ,"If they are recasting Superman and shafting Henry Cavill then James Gunn and Co better recast other roles - mainly The Flash because if Ezra Miller is allowed to continue in that role after all the horrible things they’ve done it would be 110% unfair." A tweet claimed, "And yet that predator Ezra Miller hasn't had his [their] film get cancelled yet. These guys are a clown show and have no idea what they are doing." A tweet claimed, "so what’s the plan for getting rid of ezra miller i need them GONE."
