WB still 'committed' to big-screen release for $200M 'The Flash' featuring 'healing' Ezra Miller
Ezra Miller and the future of his standalone DCEU flick, 'The Flash' generated headlines in June after the issues surrounding the actor paved the way for intense criticism. The 'Justice League star was charged with a second-degree assault in Hawaii and was arrested. The controversy continued with he decided to post memes on his Instagram account and was speculated to have been pulled off the movie by WB.
Miller, who's been in the headlines for his erratic behavior over the years, just found himself in more soup. His alleged inappropriate behavior against a mother and her 12-year-old nonbinary child saw them granted a temporary harassment prevention order. This was the latest update and a different scenario after last week, when the parents of Tokata Iron Eyes, 18, managed to obtain a protective order that said 'The Flash' star cannot contact their child. Even as both these established actors deal with the scenario, it's a no-brainer that DC has taken some hits.

WB 'committed' to a theatrical release for 'The Flash'
Per a Variety report, WB was still committed to releasing 'The Flash' in cinemas in 2023 with a 'healing' Miller starring the speedster. That said, it is also unclear if the franchise will continue with the 29-year-old in future projects. The outlet wrote that it would cost too much for WB to scrap the movie, not after an estimated $200 million went into making the movie. Replacing the actor was not an option either as he was shown to be in every other frame. Adding to this was the HBO Max release the studio was pondering over, but that seems to be unlikely as well.
With 'The Flash' all set to explore the concept of the multiverse featuring Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton's versions of Batman, the movie was supposed to set the tone for the upcoming films. Whether WB makes some changes to the storyline remains to be seen. In all probability, 'The Flash' might see a theatrical release and the studio might consider replacing Miller with another actor. There have already been calls for getting Arrowverse star Grant Gustin to play the iconic superhero, considering he does play the Scarlet Speedster in The CW's 'Flash'.
For now, much of the focus is on the upcoming releases. Dwayne Johnson's 'Black Adam' is set to hit the screens in October followed by 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods in December. 'The Flash' is still set to premiere in theaters on June 2, 2023.
