'My fans mean the world to me': GloRilla 'devastated' after 2 women die in stampede at her New York concert

ROCHESTER, NEW YORK: GloRilla, the Memphis musician whose song 'FNF' (Let's Go) was nominated for best rap performance at Grammy Awards 2023, is "devastated" after two women died at her concert in Rochester, New York, on Sunday, March 7, 2023. The stampede was triggered after the crowd mistakenly thought it heard gunshots though investigators found no such thing had occurred.

The two women, who died in Rochester, New York, have been identified as Brandy Miller, 32, of Rochester and Rhondesia Belton, 33, of Buffalo. Police, as per reports, said that one person was admitted to the hospital in critical condition while nine more have been injured.

'Praying for their families'

GloRilla, who had finished performing before the incident occurred, only heard about the stampede after she left the venue. "I am devastated & heartbroken over the tragic deaths that happened after Sunday’s show. My fans mean the world to me praying for their families & for a speedy recovery of everyone affected," GloRilla tweeted. Earlier after hearing about the stampede she wrote, "I’m just now hearing about what happened wtf praying for everybody is ok."



 

'We do not have any evidence of gunshots being fired'

Police said the incident began shortly after the concert ended at the Armory venue on Sunday night. Many were trampled which led to the injuries at the concert featuring rappers GloRilla and Finesse2tymes. Addressing a news conference on Monday, March 6, police chief David M Smith said, “We do not have any evidence of gunshots being fired or of anyone being shot or stabbed at the scene,” Smith said.

Two women victims 

Rhondesia Belton, as per Byron W Brown, worked for the city’s traffic violations agency. "This is another difficult day for our city’s workforce and our entire community. I join all of our city employees in mourning the loss of one of our own. Rhondesia M Belton, 33, was hired last year and worked in the City of Buffalo Traffic Violations Agency."



 

He further tweeted, "She tragically lost her life yesterday while attending a concert in Rochester. Her family, friends, and colleagues are devastated and left to mourn this tragic loss. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers."

One user shared a picture before the concert of Brandy Miller and wrote, "A friend of Brandy Miller, the woman who died from her injuries after attending the @GloTheofficial concert Sunday night shared this picture with me. She told me this was what she wore the night of the concert. My heart goes out to her friends and family."
