'Feels very personal': Fans 'heartbroken' after 'Harry Potter' star Robbie Coltrane dies aged 72
FALKIRK, SCOTLAND: In one of the most devastating news coming out from the world of cinema, 'Harry Potter' star Robbie Coltrane has died at the age of 72. The news of his death was confirmed by his agent, who revealed that the iconic actor died in a hospital near Falkirk in Scotland.
In a statement issued, his agent Belinda Wright noted how uniquely talented Coltrane was and his role of Hagrid in 'Harry Potter' movies "brought joy to children and adults alike all over the world." She also noted that the actor will "probably be best remembered for decades to come as Hagrid." Wright also described the actor as "forensically intelligent" and a "wonderful actor." The statement didn't give any more details about his death.

The Scottish actor began his career in 1978 and garnered recognition for his appearance in the 1983 series 'Alfresco'. He received three consecutive Best Actor BAFTAs for the BBC miniseries 'Tutti Frooti'.
Coltrane also played negative roles in James Bond movies 'GoldenEye' and 'The World is Not Enough'. However, he became a worldwide sensation after playing Rubeus Hagrid for the first time in 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone'. The actor went on to play the role in all the 'Harry Potter' franchises.
As soon as news of his death surfaced online, social media couldn't control their emotions and gave touching tributes to the actor. Apart from fans, author JK Rowling also gave a wonderful tribute to the actor and said she was "beyond fortunate to know him, work with him."

The Scottish actor, whose real name is Anthony Robert McMillan was born in Rutherglen, United Kingdom, in 1950. He is survived by his sister Annie McMillan, his children Spencer and Alice, and his wife Rhona Gemmell.
