LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Netflix has put Nancy Meyers' 'Paris Paramount' on hold due to financial constraints. Meyers had already begun negotiations with a distinguished ensemble that included Owen Wilson, Scarlett Johansson, Michael Fassbender, and Penélope Cruz. The film was to be her first feature since 2015's 'The Intern'. According to rumors, it tells the tale of two filmmakers who experience love and loss before being compelled to work on a new project.

Apparently, Netflix grew tired of 'Paris Paramount's expanding costs and decided to suspend Meyers' film as a result, Deadline reported. The two came to a deadlock after Netflix agreed to a $130 million budget but the director insisted on $150 million. 'Paris Paramount' will be put on hold as a resolution was not possible. The hit director's fans have voiced their protest on Twitter after the announcement.

Meyers to look for other streaming platforms

'Paris Paramount' was in the process of acquiring a star-studded ensemble, making it a tempting project for Netflix. However, the streamer has been thrifty due to their own financial worries; the business has seen a decline in subscriptions and is now trying to crack down on password sharing. Nonetheless, 'Paris Paramount' might still be valuable to other streaming services, or even studios looking for a popular rom-com for theatres. With a glamorous cast and Meyers' established reputation, the movie might just as well go to other OTTs, such as Prime Video, Hulu, or Apple TV+.

'She is 6/6 for theatrical hits'

The recent development has left Meyers' ardent fans disappointed. One fan commented, "A theatrical studio should pick it up. She is 6/6 for theatrical hits. She has more than earned a 7th film to do her thing. She has never missed in terms of quality or entertainment, there is an existing audience for her. Nobody does it like Nancy Meyers." The user added another comment, saying, "Even if it doesn't cross $150 million theatrically, it is guaranteed to become a staple on TV and a value to whatever streaming home it ends up on. Nancy Meyers movies have incredible replay value. It is worth the investment."

Meanwhile, another shocked fan noted, "Imagine disrespecting Nancy Meyers like this! Shameful! If I still had a Netflix account, I'd cancel again!" Someone else said, "Somebody should pick it up, she is a hit machine." Another fan tweeted, "Its a shame. I love Nancy Meyers films for just the homes!!! They are interior design eye candy and I love the affluent lifestyle she projects in her films. Always so tasteful. The “Its Complicated” Mexican kitchen is my favorite ❤️" One user joked, "Think of the beautiful kitchen sets that will never be built."
