Fans claim Taylor Swift dropped Easter egg for her breakup date in 'Lavender Haze' video
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Taylor Swift recently broke up with British actor Joe Alwyn, her boyfriend of six years. While the news surfaced just a few days ago, the Swifties have started digging in her past releases to find the Easter eggs of her breakup. And as it looks like, some Swifties, or Taylor Swift’s fan base like to call themselves, indeed became successful in finding hints of her breakup from her 2022 release ‘Lavender Haze’.
One hawk-eyed fan propagated the idea that Swift indeed dropped a hint of her breakup in the song as at the 48th second of the song, the ‘Lover’ crooner blows a match hinting at something “blowing up”. The fan was of the opinion that the match blowing of the song at that particular timestamp and the speculated date of her breakup cannot be coincidental. It is probably one of Swift’s biggest Easter eggs.

In October 2022, when Swift released ‘Lavender Haze’ she explained to Entertainment Tonight, "I happened on the phrase 'lavender haze' when I was watching Mad Men, and I looked it up because I thought it sounded cool, and it turns out that it's a common phrase used in the '50s where they would just describe being in love," before adding, "If you were in the lavender haze that meant you were in that all-encompassing love glow. I thought that was really beautiful." Swifties believe the song was probably dedicated to her then-lover Alwyn.
Fans have also speculated another interesting piece of information related to her The Eras Tour. It has been found out that from March 31 onwards there has been a major change in the ‘Lover’ singer’s sets of her ‘The Eras Tour’. In the gig at Arlington, Texas, the multiple Grammy-winning singer first replaced the song ‘Invisible String’ with her breakup song ‘The 1’ in the ‘Folklore’ section of the concert. Since then, the pop star has played ‘The 1’ at all of her stops on the tour. Swifties think she wrote the ‘Invisible String’ dedicating her then-boyfriend Joe Alwyn. Thus, replacing ‘Invisible String’ with the sad tune ‘The 1’ was a major giveaway.
Queen of Easter Eggs
In a 2019 interview with Entertainment Weekly, the ‘Anti-Hero' hitmaker declared, “I love to communicate through Easter eggs,” before elaborating, “I think the best messages are cryptic ones.”
In Jimmy Fallon’s show, Swift also shared after the release of ‘All Too Well: The Short Film’, "It's sort of a tradition that we started a very long time ago," before elaborating, “I think the first time that I started dropping sort of cryptic clues in my music was when I was 14 or 15, putting together my first album. I wanted to do something that incentivized fans to read the lyrics because my lyrics are what I'm most proud of out of everything that I do... When I was a kid, I used to read through CD booklets and just read the teeny, tiny print and obsess over it.”
'I wonder what else we've missed like damn'
The social media feeds have never been the same again as fans started propagating their conspiracy theories! One fan replied to the post by pitching in a theory of their own. Posting a series of screenshots having "4" and "8" numericals, the fan wrote, "I just posted about this on reddit! Look….," to which another replied, "Catch and release day?! She really said “yes he is a fish boy”." Another fan mourned, "I wonder what else we've missed like damn". One fan, however, commented, "Sometimes i wish taylor would just take back how she said she likes doing easter eggs with us bc some of you are doing too much for details that you all made up in your heads."
