'Kylie Jenner needs to pack her bags': Fans celebrate as Selena Gomez makes a comeback on Instagram
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A recent tweet by a Selena Gomez fan comparing the singer's Instagram following, which has now reached over 371 million, to that of Kylie Jenner's, which stands at 378 million, has prompted the internet to believe that Gomez is "back to take her throne." The 'Rare' singer, who held the title of the most-followed person on Instagram for three years till being replaced by Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018, had reportedly removed all the social media apps from her phone in 2018 and statyed away from social media. However, in a recent Instagram post, the 30-year-old hinted a comeback after she posted a couple of selfies with the caption, "Wait can you tell I’m back on Instagram?".
In 2022, Gomez opened up about her decision to take a break from social media. Speaking to Instyle, she said, “At one point Instagram became my whole world, and it was really dangerous. In my early 20s, I felt like I wasn‘t pretty enough." Gomez added, "Taking a break from social media was the best decision that I’ve ever made for my mental health. I created a system where I still don‘t have my passwords. And the unnecessary hate and comparisons went away once I put my phone down.” The 'Only Murders in the Building' star was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2020 and in 2021. Gomez cofounded WonderMind, a platform intended to normalize conversations about mental health.

Several users expressed their displeasure over pitting two women against each other. "Don’t put women against women, they’re all queens," wrote a user. "Stop pitting women against each other. Your patriarchial brainwashing is showing. One of these women is a 30 year old popstar business owner. The other is a 25yo successful and great mother of two. Plenty of room for both of them," added another.
